People are writting articles all the time and saying its breaking research, but yet its always old news. The fact is they have ran out of things to talk about so they just keep going through the motions.

thats an interesting point. I wonder why they couldnt use real people? Money perhaps? Although I'm certain monkeys cost money.

people are always wanting to simplify it.....Oh, it is cortisol, it is this, it is that...

It is a lot of things that are making people fat these days. Stress is only one of the factors at play. Overeating, under activity, etc....THings don't happen in isolation. It is a cumulative effect of many things.
 
I don't understand the science of things per say, but I will say this. My line of work is very stressful and often times leads to poor or reduced sleep. I'm still achieving my goals but the pace is very slow. So perhaps there is something to be said for this stress business. After October life will go back to normal until March. :)

Do a little look up on Stress, Cortisol, and Fat. That will have some answers to your progress.

There is definately a correlation with stress and fat gain.

P is right that people use these things as excuses but they aren't excuses for everyone. Some people really do have cortisol issues. Some have high and others have low. Then if you add in lack of sleep, well now you are definately affecting cortisol and your circadian rhythms. If you do feel you may have these issues then it's best to get a salivary ASI test done instead of guessing. Symptoms of both high and low are very similar so there is no true way to tell without testing without testing.

I've had terrible sleep since my car accident in 1997 and started gaining weight really after 2001 when I came home from college. I've changed my diet and have three programs I rotate to change and keep things moving and different. I'm making my goals just not like I'd hoped.

There may be something to this, but I doubt it. I just think I'm a very light sleeper. I'm not comfortable being still for that long, is really the problem. I'll read on this though. Thank you for the link.
