Marriage is a silly outdated institution. The fact that 50-60% of them now end in divorce shows that people have no respect for it anymore. I hold absolutely no importance to marriage - if I ever decide to go through with it, it will be a formality. But that's just my opinion.

IMO marriage is an institution of the past. the only reason people still get married is because thats what it is an institution. Its just a social declaration that was manufactured by religions to pair couples up and maximize population growth.

Just because some people crap on marriage doesn't mean it is out dated. As to an institution, I dont think anybody has claimed otherwise.

However, being that you guys think marriage is a thing of the past, a waste of time, or a mere formality, I'd say you're already well on your way to fitting into that 50-60% divorce rate Somebody has to work hard to get those numbers up, right?

I find it quite funny that man has managed to differentiate himself from the other animals in many ways. But when something as good as marriage becomes practice (and there is no denying that marriage can be a great thing), man would rather limit himself to the role of the ordinary animals as it suits him.

As bio said, that divorce rate is indicative of shitty people in the world that cant take a vow and keep it. If you dont want to stay with a person long term, or you want to go ho around, dont get married, or marry a person that digs that shit. There are definitely reasons for divorce, but I dont think that 60% of couples are in an abusive relationship. People need to grow up and learn how to stick with something if they make a decision like marriage.

depending on the state, a pre-nup may not even be relevant. some states don't even honor them.

You obviously have no idea of what a marriage is.............it ain't just the church....Im no laywer but I do know its a legal binding contract enforced by the state.....so yes when you consider that you assume all your partners debt, they are 50% owner in any business you start up, share all future profits 50-50....if your lucky, then there is child support, alimony..ect .....I would say yes it is a business decision.

"Marriage" IS a MAN-MADE "creation". Anything "created" by "humanity" is bound to have problems. For starters just throw "religion" into the equation.

My buddy is 38 and makes 82K a year....he is about to marry a Doctor who makes $350,000 a year....now this is the first marriage for both of them.

Here is the Question....she is fighting him on the pre-nup......she wants to give him jack sh-t if they diverse....he only wants 5 years alimony of 70K for 5 years. It is 4 days till the wedding and she still hasn't agreed to the pre-nup....

And she wants him to quit his job of 15 years to re-locate for her new job.

To late to comment but the answer is ALWAYS yes! if you even need to ask that question...

what state is he in? some states don't recognize prenuptial agreements. Even if he is in one that does, if it was really harsh like you described, the court may hold it unconscionable (sp?), meaning void.
