i have read that when doing side laterals your arms should be slightly bent does anyone know why that would matter? :hmmm:

for me it feels more natural, if you are isolating the delts it shouldnt matter. do whatever feels best for you.

Haven't tried it with straight arms but I imagine it would work your tricep as well, and you wouldn't want that when doing side laterals.

with arms bent you are lifting less weight (in force inches) since you are shortening the lever arm. You are cheating IMO. Do them with straigh arms and strict form and see how it is.

I see a lot of the CHICKEN-WING technique...

Where the dumbells remain in stationary orbit somewhere in front of the chest,
with the elbows flapping up and down. (And sometimes the knees pumping)

Whats wrong with this? I thougth dumbell lateral raises were a good alternative to a full body workout.

They are. In fact, that's all you need to get a sculpted body in seven days or less, guaranteed.

I feel it is easier on my elbows to bend them a little, I dont feel guilty at all.

I have enjoyed for a brief period using a TUT style set, which for me was light weight, slow reps for about 60 seconds or so - with no bend in the elbows.

Emphasis should be shifted slightly with angle change but still, I feel its easier on my body so I dont care much. Watch Ronnie Colemans form and you would think it woudn't be doing much of anything, but his delts dont look abnormally small compared to the rest of him at all.
