:( I suffer from sinus problems, you know a blocked nose, sometimes runny and headaches, all that. This makes it dificult for me to do anything as i am always sniffing and sneezing.

Anyone has any ideas that can help?:help:please i'm :stuck:

i have in fact seen an ent. I have sinusitis, post nasal drip and tinnitus.

I have medication for these problems but the thing is that these are not working. Antibiotics aren't doing any thing!

:mad::confused:

I am looking for something else. I cannot even exercise properly!!! :sob:

My doctor has already done a allergy skin test, no allergies!

I had a cold prior to this, its what initially caused the problem.

The allergy skin prick test is kinda comical and you can't rule out all possible allergic hypersensitivity from that test alone. A skin prick test doesn't rule out food allergies (for instance). That test is very dependent on what was used in solution, in other words if they say "no reaction to dog dander" it doesn't mean you won't react to all breeds just whatever was used for that test. A negative skin histamine reaction doesn't rule out all environmental allergic reactions.

I've lived with Vasomotor rhinitis pretty much all my life (in my case it's simply allergy/genetic). If you believe it was a cold, you may have a bacteria or virus (which means antibiotics are useless) causing the problem, all you should/can do (besides riding it out), is eat well (more fruit and veg in your diet is never a bad thing, as silly as it sounds), get minimum 8 hours rest/night and manage the symptoms. I don't recommend going on nasal sprays long term.

Rhinocort, Beconase AQ, Fluonase, and Nasacort AQ are popular corticosteroids(and pricey) but you build up a resistance over time and they can be damaging to your mucosal membranes (long term).

Salt Water nasal rinses (also known as nasal irrigation) are very effective. Just google nasal irrigation or nasal rinse and you'll find out all you need to know.

One of my kids have throat polyps that has them clearing his throat all the time and makes him get hoarse very quickly if he overuses his voice. It's a genetic problem passed down from my Dad's side. Nasal and throat polyps are other possibilities and can cause hypersensitivities in the muscosa.

These kind of things are all very manageable (which may be good news especially since they're chronic).

My only beef with ent guys is that they pass you over very quickly. They stick a scope up your nose and make you stick out you tongue....see inflammation and quickly (very quickly) diagnose sinusitis or rhinitis, prescribe meds and send you on your way.

If you can find it (not likely though) ephedra is a fantastic natural decongestant. Another OTC solution to try is Reactine Allergy and Sinus (which has pseudoephedrine in it). I use the 12 hour instead of 24 hr stuff as for me, that works better and I can decide if I only need a half day dose or full strength.Your body can metabolize the 24hour stuff before you get a full 24 hours worth out of it (or so the pharmacist mentioned and my own personal experience has found that to be about right).

Good Luck.

Thanks Gordo for all your help, i will spend part of my day googling nasal rinses and other natural ways to treat my sinusitis, tinnitus and post nasal drip.

LOL, you are quite correct! those ent doctors just looked at my nose, sinuses and throat, diagnosed me and gave me medication. All done and i went on my way. Ofcourse nothing has helped me.

I eat healthy and drink lots of water. I will continue to do so as i also know how important healthy diet is.

Thanks again Gordo, i will take all that you have said into consideration.

Sorry to hear that... perhaps you still have some sort of infection.

And thanks TCAP28, :)

I do still have an infection!

What a dummy.

:spam:

You are quite correct, here i am trying to get my sinus infection under control so that i can finally exercise properly without having to sniff continuously and without any headaches and here belly answers about acne????

Any other suggestions besides acne? :roflmao:

I use an antihistamine (works good for drainage or blockage) and saline spray.
Have you tried a dehumidifier at night? Also, indoor air quality is a factor so you need to clean/change your air filter frequently.

thanx dirtcake1. I have a dehumidifier at home and it is helping quite a bit but these problems are so persistent. I hate it !!!!

You're welcome. I have suffered with sinus issues since childhood and it can be hell but, it is manageable. That's about as good as it gets, I have never known anyone that had successful sinus surgery. Maybe temporary relief but, their problems always returned and sometimes got worse than before surgery.
I have heard that moving out west would take care of it but, not an option for me at this time.

You have to buy a sinus douche thing-a-ma-jig.

Hold on, let me see if I can find it.

YouTube - Neti Pot How-To

I used this when I was sick as hell a few weeks ago. I loved this thing. It looks strange, but I hear sinus sufferers are saying this thing was the answer to their prayers.

Blocked Sinuses

Sinus blockage usually occurs when there is an obstruction in the sinus openings, preventing air from entering the paranasal sinuses. We have four pairs of sinus cavities that assist in warming and filtering air that enters the nasal passages. Each of these cavities has a small opening called ostium attached to the nasal passages for free exchange of air and mucus. want more details: Blocked Sinuses

Hi, my opinion is that the - Try a sinus rinse kit, either a neti pot or squeeze bottle type. They cost $8 - $15, and are used to gently flush the sinuses with salt water. My allergist thinks it great to use, since they clean out excess mucus, dust, pollen and other things without using medications. It also helps hydrate the mucus membranes.

Since using my sinus kit I have had a real reduction in the amount of sinus pressure and pain I usually have. I cal also breathe out of both nostrils, which is a novelty. It feels weird but you get used to it.

If it's truly allergies than you can try either claritin (loratadine) or zyrtec (citirizine). These will not work immediately but after a few days of use they should kick in. If your having a lot of trouble with sinus pressure and you don't have any problems with high blood pressure than Sudafed (pseudoephedrine) will probably help decrease the pressure and headache along with the tylenol your presently taking. Any more questions than check with you local pharmacist, they should be a lot of help.
Good luck.

Thanks SuzieKitson and thanks Marteen.

I have been using the SinusWars remedies while still performing my regular things like sinus rinses (neti pot), using my humidifier and drinking lots of water! I feel great!
