Steve Jobs -- the mega-genius who co-founded Apple Inc. -- has died ... reps for the company have confirmed.

Jobs was 56.

Jobs suffered a number of serious health issues over the years. In 2004, he announced he had a rare -- but treatable -- form of pancreatic cancer ... and had a tumor successfully removed from his pancreas later that year.

In 2009, Jobs received a liver transplant after announcing his "health-related issues were more complex than I thought."

Story developing...

That sucks.

Back when he stepped down as CEO, it was obvious that he was pretty ill. Looked very frail.. so while I say its not shocking, it still sorta is.

I might watch Pirates of Silicon Valley this weekend...

You'da thought Woz would go before Jobs...

His final will stated that he be buried in a glossy white coffin with no visible hinges or latches.

Rip

You'da thought Woz would go before Jobs...

You never can tell. One of my teachers during camp after 7th grade was in incredible shape. He worked out and ran miles in the park for his exercise. When I was in high school I heard he passed from a heart attack while running at 43 years of age.

his ideas for the next 5-10 years will be carried out as planned but after that Apple as we know it will definitely suffer and possibly become obsolete

I love my ipad although i know im being spied upon and my every tap tracked...i still love the thing.

Anyway, follow me on this....Lets take a slightly dark turn here shall we. I know ill catch flack from the naysayers and sheeple, but notice how this dude dies as soon as they find out about the hidden spy file in iPhones and iPads? This guy has 8 billies...Thats 9 zero's X 8. he faked his death.

His legacy will always be as an innovator of the modern world...

Sad sad news

Yes, I agree. He was basically forced out of apple when he was 30, and in doing so, they almost destroyed the company. As soon as he came back, he turned their company around in no time. With him gone, apple will lose their cutting edge in less than 5 years.

He didn't fake pancreatic cancer over the past 4 years, so I am convinced he is dead.

but if you think about it of what real use is that information? 20% of the criminals commit 80% of the crime and the rest is the spur of the moment kind of event.

apple products in general have a cult following of sorts and are above average in price. so the average apple consumer in reality probably isn't doing squat except going to school/work and home and out occasional on the wknds.

Yup, good old fashioned American innovation coupled with cheap 14yo Vietnamese child labor manufacturing. A modern day CEO's CEO. :daydream:

LOL - guess you could actually blame that on the government if you really wanted to place blame... But hey this isn't about politics is it?

I think Jobs was a dickhead, a megalomaniac, and in all likelihood a sociopath. However, even bad people can be remembered for the good they did, and he did a lot of good. He did a lot of good despite is flaws, and in a way, that is a beautiful thing.

My life's work is dedicated to the pursuit of technologies made possible by him, so I will honor him for what he did, and try to forgive or forget the flaws he could no fix.

Would definitely take dedication to lose all that weight, so -- if faked -- kudos to Jobs.

why do you say that?

X2

You can't just call him a dickhead or whatever and not offer some examples of his, uh, dickheadedness.

...

Well, you can, but that kinda makes you the dickhead.
