I read an article awhile back (i forget the pub, names ect. so don't ask). The title "Stop Flat Benching." The pro said to only do incline because they will build your upper chest and the upper pec muscle will hold your pecs up vs flat and decline which will put more mid and lower mass on them and create sagging over long term.

What do you think?

thats the most retarded shit I have heard. You can't just soley build your upper chest. First off the decline recruits more fibers of the chest than the incline does. Theres more shoulder work with the incline, and thats besides the point. Anyone who just completely writes off an entire movement is a fool. Does that even make sense that your upper pec will hold your pecs up? think about that statemtent and tell me if it makes one ioda of sesne to you? There is absolutely nothing wriong with any of the benching movements, you should use all of them at one point or another if you wish to optimize your training

I loveit whenself proclaimed experts make announcements on their latest 'tard breakthoughs...lol

Anyone here ever read the book 'Dinosaur Training' by Brooks Kubik? Straight off of his website:

"Have you had it up to here with weight training books written by people who don't know a barbell from a bagel or a dumbbell from doughnut and who think a power clean is a new kind of laundry detergent?"

Lol. Thats just a glimpse of what he is like, in 'Dinosaur Training' he talks about armchair theorizers hypothosizing bullshit and such. He also makes fun of the "Fern and Chrome Crowd," good read if you are into hardcore weight training.

If you read in a muscle mag and its by a pro is probably true but if you read it on the internet then its true for sure

I have been training off and on for the past 25 years and I have noticed that I only shrink when I stop training. I also make sure when I stop training I also stop eating like I am training.

Sorry but this comment lacks complete lack of knowledge, screams bad attitude and helps no one!! :finger:

Muscle does NOT sag!!! It wastes away over time - if one ceases to train and doesn't put their hard earned muscles to use, hence the phrase ' use it or lose it'.

As far as Arnie is concerned, He could NOT sag if he tried and after all this time still looks fab and should be an inspiration to us all!! :rocker:

dude.. i saw pics of him he is still a huge guy, dont get me wrong, but he isnt what he used to be.
ya obviously your not going to see a big change in muscle deffinition(in a bad way) if your only comparing it to a 25 year time span and especially if you have been lifting with the same intensity that got you to where you are right now.
i didnt mean for my statment to sound like that your going to loose muscle mass and get flabby muscles the second you drop a DB, i meant it in the way that our bodies dont last forever and there is a point we will all reach when we cant lift anymore have it be when we are 70, 80, or hell 90 years old.
dude, just fucking lift!!!

Well, I believe you can target/build the upper chest with incline work, but I see no reason to stop using flat benches if they work for you and if they do not hurt your shoulders. I rarely ever do flat bench...maybe once every 2-3 months, as I opt more for incline presses, but I DID do plenty of flat benching in my earlier years.
