i heard that having alot of sugar is bad for bodybuilding and especially when cutting and trying to lose weight. i like to have a lot of fizzy drinks which have alot of sugar in then, so will it be ok if i have sugar free drinks, such as diet coke. i am not sure because i have heard that even sugar free drinks have other things in them which are bad for trying to lose weight, maybe the caffine in it, not sure.

what about caffine, does it effect building muscle or trying to lose fat?

do you think it will be ok to have a sugar free red-bull befor a workout?

If you had read up the stickies on diets, you would know that simple sugars make you fat. You'd also know that moderate consume of caffeine aids fat loss. Diet drinks - in moderation - aren't a problem. Just watch your overall sodium intake.

Basically, diet coke is okay. Sugar rushes glucose into your blood quickly so that your body stuggles to absorb it efficiently and converts more of it to fat than if you have digested it more slowly(oatmeal as a carb for example.) Just dont go over 300 mg of caffeine per day bc it could be harmful to your health if you continue that over a long period of time.

A study was done by a major university that showed 600mg of caffeine a day increases brain function, energy levels, conscentration, ect. The study was done on the canadian special forces guys. They were given bubble gum with caffeine. Kinda interesting, huh?
I do think you need to cycle it though.

i have this energy drink its called blue bear and well basically its the same as red-bull but is a lot cheaper because red-bull is such a big and well known brand. on the back of the can it says it cotains 30mg/100ml of caffeine. so to get up to 300mg it would be 10 cans, so do you think that if i have 2-4 cans a day that would be ok. thanks for all the replys you guys are great.

brother, 30mg/100ml is only about 3ounces. Surely the cans you are consuming are more than 3 ounces at a time. Just do the math.

the caffine content is 30mg/100ml the whole can is 250ml, sorry i should of made what i meant alot clear, so do you think that 2-4 cans a day is ok, but to be honist i only really have them on my workout days, one before the workout and one after.

I think what your doing is fine. If you wanted to get an extra boost by taking 2-4 cans a day its not different than someone drinking a couple cups of coffee a day. Should be fine.

Its the same story like everything else here guys.

As a few of you have already said its all about drinking in 'moderation'
