i made some sweet potato fries using the oven. they were so good! before hand, i placed some olive oil on them then cooked. after they were done they were all greasy, next time should i not use the oil? grease=bad?

It depends. Olive oil is a good oil (and heating it to the temp you hit in the oven would have done it no harm). So as long as that oil fits into your requirements you did no harm at all.
If you didn't need the fats then next time, go without the oil.
If you are interested - as an alternative, combine an egg white with some chilli and cinnamon and stir it all together then brush this over the wedges before you bake - it makes them all crispy and gives them a really yummy flavour! You can add lots of other things as well (crushed garlic, black pepper, cumin etc etc) - just pick the flavours you enjoy!
