I knw this is might b a thrashed topic but id luv sum advice. My post workout meal is usaly 5-6 weat bix wit honey and a protein shake. I knw your spose to get complex carbs straight after a workout which is why i smash the cereal. is this a gd post workout feed??? any sugestions on the carbs i should b nailing after workouts??

you want simple carbs/protein post WO, the meal after that, say an hour later is complex carbs, good fats and lean protein . . just like a HJ'S whopper ;)

im the scheme of things not so much, but would be good to see some protein in there. You could make a protein shake to pour over your weetbix

. .postWO I actually prefer the following:

300ml low fat milk
40g whey protein
40g dextrose (brewer's sugar)

. .what ever you do, just make sure you have a good sized and balanced meal again about 1-1.5hrs later

Ahh the joy of the metric system. I wish we would adopt it here in the states.

lol yeah your 'imperial' systems makes no fkg sense whatsoever!

Phở. Rice noodles, clear broth, lowfat beef - plenty of carb, protein, salt, and water - it's the perfect post-workout meal.

I remember someone talking one time about there being no evidence that Postworkout carbs being necessary.. That they were not needed.. Maybe Pheneas said this? can't remember?

Muscle Gelz Transdermals
IronMag Labs Prohormones
Thank you. I thought it was just the meds kicking in.

Wasn't the reasoning behind no carbs after workouts something to do with growth hormone + the fact that you would have less fat oxidation? I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that fat oxidation stays the same if you primarily eat protein or fats, don't know about carbs. But I'd rather have my glycogen + insulin spike than growth hormone + little glycogen.

Or am I just whistling dixie in the wind?

:hmmm::bulb::funny:

So uh, I guess I'm the only one who thought that was funny.:twitch:

milk, chocolate whey

an hour later, eat a meal with a complex carb, some good fats, and some lean meat.

Simple carbs?? like wat? so am i doin the wrong thing smashing cereal after workouts?

cereal? Seriously...I mean How many serious athletes do you see pound cereal after a workout? Maybe every blue moon just to get your rocks off but come on, get serious.

What's wrong with cereal and milk - carbs and protein. Sounds perfect to me. Am I missing something?

cereals not a bad option, even if there are better ones to consider

Since I'm on the UD2, I do two depletion workouts which get no carbs at the end of the workout, but do get protein and some fat from natural peanut butter. On my higher carbs during the week, I switch it over and use All in 1 which Joe Franco and I have created (available in both vanilla caramel and chocolate). I'm not pimping the product, but it does help after a workout especially on the higher carb days. You can look at the macros on Beyond Nutrition It has both oats and dextrose with whey and casein.
I will also say that I dont feel the difference in terms of energy levels, because I know a meal is around the corner within 3-4 hours, whether I take in protein and fat, or carbs and protein.
