The gym's music...

Muscle Gelz Transdermals
IronMag Labs Prohormones
Radio music (Q-Radio). Stuff from the hitlists. Most of it sucks, but it doesn't really bother me. I prefer to have a more acute sense of my environment and the motion of my body when I workout.

I only really need music when I'm doing cardio.

Ditto.

On top of that I just can't stand the "claustrophobic" feeling I have when I'm wearing headphones and I have wires attached to me. I feel too restricted.

...having head phones on and with the music right there in my ears actually gives me a head ache...so I am at the mercy of what the gym is playing...

I bought my iPod two weeks ago.. but the next day I had to get EAR-PLUGS.. I love Zonin' :P

My gym plays MTV in the 'cardio theatre' but in the 'heavy weight room' (squat rack etc) it is deadly and I mean deadly quiet. you can here a sweat bead drop. My old gym (balls 2 the ball, spit and chalk kinda place) used to play BBC Radio 1

For some reason, I can't stand listening while I'm lifting, but I have to have it on for my 60-some-odd-minute cardio sessions.

I guess it's because I actually have to talk to some people there to make deals to get equipment, besides most of the guys there are actually pretty cool and don't piss me off as much anymore (possibly because I'm actually talking and being nice to them?)

I know, it's rude to talk to random people there, but it is nice to be nice and see if they are still using that equipment before I take it away (I hate it when people do that to me!!).

Anyways, I hate the stuff my place plays with a passion, a lot of rap and teenie bopper crap. I just ignore it all and get my job done.

Mp3 player for me... I don't go to the gym to be social. It helps me tune out idle conversation and BS talk. Sometimes during cardio I listen to talk radio. Interactions with other people puts me out of the zone more than music I like. There are a lot of people I like. When I see them I smile and take off the phones and interact. I close on a positive note smiling and put the ear buds back in to get back in the zone. :) I like classic rock. I can handle any music but country.
