Ok so i guess no training. 2 months i will start. they said the radiation will be an extremely high level for a shorter time. This way I am not so drawn out and fucked up for a long period. like 6 weeks. then i guess 2-6 weeks to get energy levels back. I wanna keep my weight up tho. Will taking creatine help, or not advised, maybe i will ask her.
I am very sorry to hear this bro, but I would listen to everything your doctor says pertaining to training, supplements, exercise etc. You will basically have no immune system while going through radiation treatment, so the smallest thing like dropping a weight on your toe could lead to an infection that your body can't fight off. But good luck with everything and keep us informed.

Settle down on the macho stuff and focus on getting rid of the cancer, you really don't want to act like a tough guy and continue training through a period like this. That's how I've ended up with my back pain right now, trying to act invincible only makes things worse. The best you can do is follow all your doctors advice and focus on other hobbies.

damn, thats shocking news to hear. Hope all goes well...please give up training for a few months and focus on your health. I'd be pissed too but better safe than sorry. Think long term, not short.

I whish you the best of luck, I'm sure your positive attitude will go a long, long way :thumb: If you haven't read it yet read Lance Armstrong's story, his 1st book I believe it's called"It's Not About the Bike" His cancer was caught too late, or so they thought.

Good Luck! You look strong enough to get over this, and you will.

WOW bro, sorry to hear this. My buddy went through this last year. He was able to beat it. So will you.

that meth addiction at 14 deff sound like it could be a cause for that, either way good luck and im sure ull beat it

Thank all of you. I have whole heartedly decided to not train any longer. I have a starting back date if everything goes well. I am looking at march30,2006. She says she thinks this can happen. She was also thrilled that I am gonan take a break. She did however say that I can keep taking my glutamine, and hmb. If i really want o watch my muscle. Plus I am looking at a diet I am making my self right now. which will be 300g protein, 350g carbs, 80g fat. good fats all the time, 10+ servings of veggies, and 6+ servings of fruit. Lean meats like steak. Lowering shakes to 1-2 a day unless I start getting too sick to keep down whole food. then i will drink more shakes. She also told me that I may not need the whole 6 weeks of radiation, maybe 4. depends on my body. Plus they are putting me on some goofy assed immune system booster, Two of them actuallu, one is a shot the other is a liquid, that i just tasted and is gross, like a mix of creatine ethyl ester, and mayo and mustard. nasty s a ll hell. But i iwll take it.

No giving up, no surrender, this is my life, and my dream. It will happen no matter what. I am glad I made this thread, my spirits are so high. I thank you all.

This is terrible news.

We're here ANY time you need to chat.

and btw, Lance Armstrong came back after taking some time off to beat cancer, you will too!

Damn man....hate to hear news like this...you'll be just fine! Just keep your spirits up, stay positive, and you'll be back hitting the weights in no time.:rocker:

Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Listen to the doctors.

Don't worry about the strength loss. It will come back.

I know muscle memory is a wonder. As I sat here thinking. I have something new to look forward to. Maybe i am not at a plateau as far as strength and size. Maybe it is the illness. I know it will work out, I mean i feel fine, and as mean as ever. But the radiation will be the worst part. Other than seeing my mom and grandma crying. They are taking it harder than me, my whole family is. lol they are like can we get this or that for you. I am like shit i got cancer, I am not fucking dead. i know where they are comming from though.

I mean, God if only i knew what to do. I will see what happens in this thread, and then i will go by that. Lifting is my desire and passion. I mean damn this really blows dogs for quarters.

good choice to lay off the training for a bit and let your body concentrate on healing. a stronger recovery means you start back in the game recovered and not recovered but to less an extent due to stressing your body during recovery. as with any injury it's tough for dedicated guys to allow themselves time to heal. if you don't allow for a fullrecovery your gains will suffer.

best of luck to you. n your attitude is admirable.

Do you know what levels of radiation you will be exposed to and if it will be external or internal therapy? Im asking because your level of exposure is basically what determines the level of cell and tissue damage you will experience. The whole point of radiation therapy is to kill cells, and hopefully it will kill all the cancerous cells, but ultimately you will lose muscle tissue as a result of your exposure. The damage to the DNA in the cells also prevents them from growing, thus halting the spread of the cancerous cells. Just be sure to follow exactly what your doctor says on this matter, and keep your spirits up.

The best of luck buddy, my father had cancer but it's now in remission. Your young and strong so you should be able to defeat this disease.

I believe it is external, then again I really do not know until tomorrow. As far as the levels those i do not know either. I am sure I will be fine. I mean the first day I am up to eating and lifting . i am gonna go on a 10,000 cal a day diet. shit I got hings to do this summer. lol. Damn This site really is awesome.

Try to get in as many calories as you can because you will most likely lose your appetite once treatment starts due to fatigue and other exposure related symptoms like nausea and difficulty swallowing. I wouldn't lift after you start treatment, even if it's the day of, because rest is one of the most important measures you need to take due to the vulnerability of your immune system, and you'll probably start feeling tired right after treatment. The last thing you want is a common cold turning into pneumonia.

On a side note, there's a physical chemist who's lab is in the same building as mine that is beginning to have serious health problems due to his exposure to low level radiation over the past 20 years or so. It's affected his motor functions the most and he exhibits symptoms of Parkinson's disease.

Sorry to hear about this bro. Hope that all goes well and you are back to normal in no time. My prayers and thoughts go out to you at this time and I pray that you have a speedy recovery.

New In The Game

I wish you the best.

Get different opinions about nutrition, also.

Listen to advice on not training while you are getting the radiation.

I haven't not experienced what you are going through, but I support you 100%.

I did read the book by Lance Armstrong, "It's Not About the Bike." --this book may be very informative and inspirational to you.

Armstrong describes in detail his fight, and how he beat it in so many different.

Best of luck to you, and keep us posted.

I take Proscar for my hair. It has the drug finesteride.

But New in the Game,

You hair does grow back after treatment.

Read as much as possible at Cancer, Cancer of the stomach, and nutrition.

I know, his dad is doing the radiation, so he thought it may help. his dad has known me since birth.

hahaha. Or i can say i am a recovering gear junky. lol
I really respect the fact that you can still be in good spirits after knowing you now have cancer. Some people go around moping saying "Why me" but not you.
I found out I have hepatitis C about 5 years I guess and I quickly found out feeling sorry for yourself makes you sicker.
Eat right, have a positive outlook and be righteous dude and you'll be OK.
