Usually the very very very first things done in the gym were WRONG. But at the time you were sure of it, right? Shit I remember mine..
Benching on a Smith Machine-though it wasnt 'wrong,' I did this because I didnt like doing flat barbell cuz of the weight moving around. Shit, I remember not having the stabilization to center it. Oh and 135lbs was a bitch. And 185lbs was a goal. I thought the weight on the Smith equaled the weight on a flat barbell.
Machines-I did 140lbs on an incline bench press machine and thought I was big and tough. No, I was a big tough pile of shit.
Legs-never did them.
Cardio-never did that.
Diet-eat steaks, protein shakes were nasty, and there was no such thing as good fat vs. bad fat.
Abs-situps not crunches and the more the better.
Deadlifts-always rounded my back. As long as I got the weight up, then it was a sufficient lift.
Pullups-yeah I was great at these and so was every other 145lb kid. And full rom didnt exist.
Arms-by far the most important workout. "Curls for the girls," and it actually worked! Triceps? What are those?
Back-never did back workouts either. If I couldnt see it in the mirror, then its not important. Then again, I didnt know pullups were a back workout.
Spotting-even though i had them in school, I didnt ever want anyone to see me struggling, so I didnt ever try to challenge myself.
Straps, Belts, Towels-youre a pussy if you use ANY of these.
Losing weight-just do cardio and stay away from weight.
Yep, I was a real genius back then.
