LW was MIA for personal reasons. I got the honor of speaking with her yesterday...
i went to spend a few days with my mom, who is dying of cancer. it turned into a week. a very nice albeit tough week.
i think he is hiding himself. maybe Cuba.

no. she has very little time left. chemo did not help it was so advanced by the time they found it. her lymph system is completely compromised and she has wasting syndrome, the cancer is taking all her bodies nutrients to feed itself. i think she will make it a bit longer than her doctors predict. i gave her cash to be able to go out and eat as much as she wants which she still loves to do so far and her doctors say at this point to have whatever she wants pretty much. she is 5'11" and just over 100 pounds now. her and my dad both have cancer, his is at a much earlier stage, and it's literally raped their resources.
if you smoke, fucking stop. she still smokes a few cigs a day even though she needs oxygen 24/7 and at night she struggles so hard to breathe.

thank you. we all have to face it sooner or later but it was really heavy talking to her about accepting how close death is. the helplessness of it is matched only by this unspoken certainty she would not face this for maybe 20 years had she not smoked.
I applaud your strength LW, cancer has to be about the most cruel and inhumane ordeal for a person and their family/friends to endure. You certainly have all my respect and sympathies. May peace and comfort find you and your family!
thank you. it wasn't just cancer... she has high blood pressure for years, was always a thin woman, but her doctor never did the tests he should have for liver and kidney function while she was on the blood pressure meds. so take a lesson from Built and know everything the doctor SHOULD know about your health and then some. some meds do as much damage as good and a doctor that doesn't monitor stuff is not so helpful.

you can't win. my step dad worked in a lumber mill and there's a sludge dump in that town with lots of old barrels of chemicals in the ground. it's a hot spot for cancers.

Thank you all. My mom called a few minutes ago and I told her my friends here are thinking of her and wishing her well, keeping her in their prayers. She is a lot like me socially as in she likes friends she can not visit with when it suits her, and it often suits her, so she always thought it was cute i came here where i can disengage a lot easier than with someone sitting on my couch yakking. Maybe i should have said a lot like me anti socially

I will pray for you and your family LW. Just make sure you spend as much time as you can with your Mom and keep her spirits up. She is very lucky to have you by her side. God bless.
she's very tired and right now i think she was glad to have us go home. hope to go back up again in a couple of weeks. she's got hospice in place and is decorating her bedroom with family photos and stuff from her childhood and life. i know a lot of people here have lost their mom and some never got the chance to say goodbye or even have a bad relationship.... thinking of those of you who have shared your losses as well.
