It's amazing how little money it takes to feed, clothe, shelter and educate helpless children in third world countries.I hate to see videos like this. They're just kids. My wife and I give 38.00/month to Compassion International to help kids like this. The sister walks all that way just to get her brothers some water and bathe them. Wow.

How many kids did that 38 cover? Probably a whole village. We used to do drives through my church, and I don't remember what the actually number was.. but something like $4 bucks a month covered one kid.
But, yeah... definately puts life in to perspective.
I have been checking around and many charities are raising the price for sponsoring a child. I used to give $35 a month to one place and now its $55 a month. The price for fuel in some villages is insanely high which probably drives up the costs.Exactly. Our 38.00 gives fresh water, food and minor school supplies. Well worth it! A lot of us lose sight over just how good we have it here in America. I personally need to be more grateful for the stuff I have. Vids like this put it in perspective for me.

I sent the makers of this vid some money yesterday. I can't get the little boy Sam's face out of my mind lying there in the dirt starving. What a deeply disturbing image.
We are having Missions conference this week in my chruch. One of the Missionay's is going to Africa. The stats were amazing 50% of the population is under 20 Y/O most parents taken out by AIDS. It is very sad.
The Missionary to Africa told a similar story about a sister and younger brother. The Missionary gave the girl some food and he followed her to her hut, no parents, and she gave the food to her little brother. when they cam back the sister had died and the brother survived. Heart wrenching. God Bless those who help and donate to people in need.

I know its human nature to try and avoid displeasant news but I feel things like this needs to be seen by the youth in America so they could get their priorities straight and get a reality check. They need to realize how blessed they are to be in a better situation then africa.
Well how you guys know what organization to trust in regards to the donations? What percentage of the donation do they keep? do they give these stats?

LOL @ this hyprocrite who always makes fun of dark-skinned folks.
Now all of sudden a heart of gold, please, definitely not fooling me.
But anyway that country is basically a lost cause and not worth it.
Immense prosperity is just not something everyone was meant to gain
in a life cycle where world peace will always nothing but a pipe dream.
Conflict, poverty, greed, abuse and death will be only the constants.
these have opposite effect on me. it actually makes me angry to see shit like this happening...
another one of those things that piss me off is animal abuse (not that pita bullshit) the unsanity living conditions, starvation bullshit pisses me off.
Yes, I feel sadness and rage at the same time watching this. Anger is good if it makes us act appropriately. For me my anger made me send money to Village2village. I had to act. That boys struggling face is burned into my memory. I may only be able to help a few kids but at least I can help some.these have opposite effect on me. it actually makes me angry to see shit like this happening...

I copied this off their site;Heavy, how much to sponsor a child through V2V? I wanna talk about this with my wife. We're in a good position financially to support another child.
I copied this off their site;
"Sponsoring a child for $55 monthly (primary school child or co-sponsor for secondary student) or $110 monthly (full secondary student ) provides these children the opportunity to grasp a future only dreamed of by most village children. Sponsors, as cherished family members are encouraged to correspond regularly with their child. They will have the joy in knowing that their assistance and encouragement will change the direction of that particular child's life."
Village2Village • Child Sponsorship
I told them I would sponsor a primary child and a staff care giver each month.
I'm very happy to hear that brother. These little kids deserve a chance.I think that we're gonna do it! Thanks for posting the details.
