I know of a few, but I was wondering what would be some of the top ten places to work @ and being young without that much college + experience?

I need a friggin job and hate waiting jobs...but will do. I also applied like @ balley's and friggin...gnc...

HELP~!!

ideas please!

Find a trade job. Learn a skill, potential for good money is there

dude, I guess ... (because it's summer...or since summer just started...) but I just wanted to know about something that I don't quite have to learn, because I am leaving to the navy in like some allotted time, so I need something to fill in my time but don't wanna be dicked with like a kiddie job working with morons or something. Something that goes with who I am, I callled manufacturing places and asked about hr jobs or something but that would be about it.

merchant marines.

lamme... haha wtf is merchant marines anyways? coast guard?

You can always get a couple of part time jobs. I am a college student and I am only home until August when I go back to college. Take whatever you can get, you know. If you can't find the ideal job, just take a less prestigious job until you find a better one. For this summer, I applied to Gold's Gym, but they said they'd need me in 2-3 weeks and I couldn't wait that long. I also had a job lined up at a web design firm since January but that fell through. So I took a job at a supermarket where I make sub sandwiches for $9 an hour working like 50 hours a week and it's not too bad at all. Just don't be too picky, it's just a summer job that you will only have temporarily, so just get on that and try to make as much money as you can.

Classifieds are also a great place to start looking.

Those are going to be the civilian guys you'll see from your Destroyer/Cruiser/Frigate while in the Navy during Unrep who will be sending over the fuel lines to you and then bringing them back. After all is said and done you will either head back to your 12 hour watch duty or down to your musky coffin rack in enlisted berthing that smells of ass and try to get a little sleep. Meanwhile those merchant marines will put away their gear go eat good food and then go to their own little room aboard their USNS ship almost like a cruise ship.

waiting tables is perfect for a summer job and someone our age (20ish). Esp if it's at a decent restauraunt. i take home over 100 a night at my job. i wait tables at a steakhouse. thats about 2,000/month. i also save alot of that and invest it but 2k/month is a great amount of money for a 20yr old to be making. but like the guy above said, take what you can get and dont spend all of your fucking money.

just for example... last month i made $2130. i spent about 600 of that. 1530 left over. so lets just say every month for the next year i put 1500 in my savings acount (ING). My rate or return on that money is 4.25%. So after 12 months that $18,000 has now grown to $18,441.73, $440 in interest. and thats on some bullshit basic ING savings account. imagine taking a a third of that and putting into mutual funds or something along those lines.. after a few years youll have a nice ass nest egg/safety net to sit on.

Bartending is a pretty good one.

Personal training is good too. I don't have a degree, and I wasn't even certified when I got hired (Though I will be soon; just waiting for official confirmation in the mail). Just get a certification and go apply at Bally's or some chain gym. They always hire schmuck trainers.

How do you spend just $600 a month? My electric bill last month was $350

350$ is an extreme amount for an electric bill. Even if you are running the a.c constantly.

I have 2 air conditioners (2600 square feet) and being in AZ when it is 115 doesn't help so they do almost run constantly in the summer

... and a 250 gallon reef tank which requires pumps to turn over 5000 gallons of water an hour (24/7) and 900 watts of lighting for 8 hours a day. Coral is photosynthetic and needs light roughly equivalent to what you would find in the Caribbean. Because of the light, the water heats up pretty fast so I need a chiller on the tank that can cool 250 gallons down to about 80 degrees.

I had to install 2 new 25 amp circuits in the house just to support the tank.

I second that, but you have to go to bartending school to be any good.
The best job I have ever had while going to college was being a bartender's barback. Basically, I handled the responsibilities of making sure the bartender always had everything he/she needed. I earned respect from the bartenders quickly, because I always busted my ass to make sure they were happy.
I made about $200 a night until the bar was shut down for underage drinking and I had to go find a real job.
Fucking loser ATF bastards... :yell:

That tank must be badass, my family has a 75 gallon one which I thought was cool.

For poor college kids 600 bucks is about right with rent, food, insurence, etc. If I'm really strapped I can get it down to 425 but I'll only be eating oatmeal, pasta, protein shakes, and those huge bags of frozen chicken breasts

Ok, do you really need that many minutes on your phone. Damn, 80$!

Ya, no shit. My bar tab is more then $600 a month. Not to mention my bills and I also live with my parents. I wish I could save money, but I also wish I only had 2 bills. Student loans are a real pain in my ass.

600 bucks a month bar tab, you need to come to the bar after a couple drinks, I could imagine blowing that much on booze
