600 bucks a month bar tab, you need to come to the bar after a couple drinks, I could imagine blowing that much on booze

It's probably more like $800. I figure i'm there 5-6 days a week. I don't necessarily go to get hammered, I go to bullshit with the bartenders and watch some baseball games, etc...

I gotta spend my money on something, why not have that something be beer. The amazing thing is, I get up at 4:30 every morning for work and I have yet to be late or miss a day. I will say I typically feel like shit all day though.

I guess thats how I sorta was for awhile at my athletic club, I work out and then go eat a hamburger or wings at their restaurant and b.s. the people, then sometimes fill bad for eating junk and do some cardio.

Why don't you "pre-game" at friends house, or with friends? That way you can drink cheaply, then spend a minimal amount for drinks at the bar.

damn thnx guyys

Ok, do you really need that many minutes on your phone. Damn, 80$!

Some of us have friends. You could get away with a beeper.

Ya, no shit. My bar tab is more then $600 a month. Not to mention my bills and I also live with my parents. I wish I could save money, but I also wish I only had 2 bills. Student loans are a real pain in my ass.
$600 bar tab/month? you have a drinking problem. Unless your going to high class clubs and paying $240+ for liquor i don't know how the fuck you can drink $600 worth of alcohol all on your own.. When I drink, me and my boys all pitch in for a few bottles and drink before we go out. Im not 21 yet anyway and the jersey shore bars are strict as fuck, friend has been arrested using a fake before. And about the phone, i need alot of minutes because i use alot of minutes, make sense?

and by the way im not bragging about how much i spend, i spend very little, some months its fucking double that it was an example.

I posted to help the kid out not to get my spending habits critiqued. I'm a finance major, thanks.

I'm not talking shit, I was just saying that I wish that was all I spent a month. It's very nice to not have a lot of bills. I remember what it was like a few years ago. And like I said before, I don't go to the bar to get wasted every night. I go because that is my little hang out; see some friends, bullshit with the bartenders, eat some food...you get the picture. The only nights I go out to get absolutely wasted are a Fri or Sat night.

Im am the only one who sees an oxymoron here? I wish I could mooch off my parents like that. They should kick your ass out. I worked my ass off to pay for school and live with no loans. I was lucky if i had money for parking.

Why's everyone biting on Fletcher's shit, let the man drink!

Haha I remember being young and dumb. Could easily blow 150 in a night at a bar

I second that, but you have to go to bartending school to be any good.
The best job I have ever had while going to college was being a bartender's barback. Basically, I handled the responsibilities of making sure the bartender always had everything he/she needed. I earned respect from the bartenders quickly, because I always busted my ass to make sure they were happy.
I made about $200 a night until the bar was shut down for underage drinking and I had to go find a real job.
Fucking loser ATF bastards... :yell:
bullshit. i tended bar at a dive first and learned from there.

Man you must of not had a social life with all that work must of done to go through school with no loans. I have two or three jobs at the same time depending on the time of year and I still have to get loan for schooling.

i'm 39k in the hole from f-king college loans. I think school is waste sometimes, you're probably better off learning a trade.
Go be an electrician.

It totally depends on the degree you get. Philosophy, art, dance, history, english, and fashion may sound like an awesome degree at the time but you probably aren't going to have a salary different from a person who didn't go to college.

I teach. And unfortunately, there's no longer any job security. People think boom youre a teacher, you have job security with tenure. Thats a bunch of shit. In my state, you need to wait 3 years and 1 day. If the boss doesnt like your tie, he can fire you. If you work in the private sector of education, its even worse. Youre truly fucked. Dont get me wrong, I love working with students, especially the special ed high school students that I just dealt with for the last 2.5 years of my life. I was released because this private school needed to put in a world language program and did away with my computer literacy program. So, I spend my waking days looking for a job. The problem I have now is that I dont look like the normal pencilneck geek of a teacher. That can go both ways, as of late, it is going against me. We all know its discrimination but what can I do?
Bottom line is; be a tradesman.

Agreed Trades are the way to go..... and there is some Awesome money in them, cause no one is doing them anymore

Not sure where this thread has gone, but definitely away from the original question/topic...

I do not think a bachelor's degree should ever be looked upon as a "waste" no matter what the major. Being educated is important, it does not gurantee a great job or salary, but it does matter. I agree certain degrees are rather worthless in the job market and others can pretty much guarntee big bucks.

Bottomline is do what you love to do and the money usually follows. If you base your career on only money chances are you will end up burnt out and unhappy.

One way to go if you are uneducated and money is your main goal is sales. A good salesman in many types of businesses can make 6 figures. My step dad has been in home improvement sales his whole life and has always made very good money. I know back in the 80's he was making over a $100k per year, I have no idea how much now though.

I did do what i wanted. I drew comic book art and album covers for nearly ten friggin years without a degree and got nowhere and made no money.
I got into teaching because I was a bad kid myself and wanted to help students not make those mistakes that i made. Now, i'm on the sites looking for a damn job, answering IM posts all fucking day long.

good for you...you'll be $400000000000000000 in debt. I hope its a professional degree.

I have enough money saved so far in my bank. Been saving since i was 15 years old .. no joke. I am not a big spender and the only thing i pay for is food, gas and other needs such as clothes and so forth. I got another 2-3 years to save some more since i am living with my parents because i finished my 1st year in college so i'll be in great shape once i am on my own.

Hey don't be worried about going into debt for an MBA or CPA they are worthwhile grad. degrees to get into. I respect the fact that you can live with parents after being free for awhile. I'm tight with my money but I still couldn't go home.
