training and getting sick

Hi, over the past 8 weeks I have been struck down by colds and flu like simptoms after visiting the gym and training hard.

Background:

I am into my 4th year of focused training. I have seen great results over this period of time. Last summer however I injured my back doing deadlifts and was forced to lay off for 3-4 weeks.
Since then, I have tried to train hard like I have done before (I am on MAX OT) every time I go to the gym, maybe in an attempt to make good on lost time.

I take my multivit, anti oxidants and minerals daily and am wondering what else people could suggest to boost your immune system.

Rule #1. Don't touch your face when out in public ( like the gym or shopping ect) thats the best place to pick up a virus......especially the dirty sweaty gym full of filth and body fluid :barf:
 
This is highly debateable, some people say its absolute crap, but I've heard good things from other people : Echinacea

Perhaps you are overtrained? One of the potential side effects of being overtrained is suppressed immune function. Are you experiencing any other symptoms of overtraining?
 
haha, ive been sick this past week and probably have had the best workouts in months, i love being sick

perhaps this will sound overly obvious, but maybe you should eat more fruits and vegetables daily.
