I am currently on vacation and yesterday I was at a local gym. To my surprise I have never seen so many people working out the wrong way. It is unacceptable for a person to come to gym and perform an exercise the wrong way. I understand that is a business, but like this the customer will leave and never come back because of an injury that could have been prevented. Please support me and help the needed people around you.

I've seen some incredible routines in my gym, usually guys doing 20-30 sets of curls three times weekly, 10 sets of benchs 5 days a week--you get the idea. Over the course of the last couple of years I haven't seen any of these guys grow, or increase their poundage. I just mind my own business unless someone asks me a question.

Yeah I love the guy that does the pull ups so fast, jerking around and swinging so much that it looks like he's going to pull his arms right out of the socket.....

In the past I've offered advise to people like this, about 80% of them keep doing it "they're way" so I only give advise if asked now.
Sometimes you just gotta shake your head and walk away. :)

lolo ya cuz im a little mofo no matter what no one pays any attention...so they dont ask... but one day they will............:D

so until then i will lift with weight i have conrol of and keep good form...and lift until failure and that last cheat REp where you swing your whole body for the last curl
i dont...

Yup, I never give unsolicited advice.

Just let the people waiste their money and mess theirselfs up. I've had a few people tell me how to do it the right way. And it did help me out a lot. But i'd mind theirselfs if i was them.

If I see somebody doing something that's very likely going to cause them immediate injury, I'll say something.

Otherwise, I just sit there and laugh to myself.

I've worked out with eights off and on for about 15 years... more off than on though. I began to do serious lifting ( which doesn't necesarrily mean seriously heavy weights) back in January. During that time frame I asked a few people that were in the gym why they did some of the exercises they were doing. The same basic response was " because it builds muscle", they shake their head and continue on with their exercise as if I didn't exist. I've even had responses such as " What are you talking to me for, can't you see I'm working out ??!!"
It was during this timeframe that I determined most of the people that work out in the gym are rude, think they are all the shit, think they know it all, and think they're the baddest ass on the planet, and can't be concerned with anyone else but themselves. Some of them probably are good at what they do, but the experiences I've had so far just prove the're mostly dirtbags talking with a mouth full of bullshit.
It was also during this timeframe that I caused major bodily destruction with a tear in my bicep from performing bench presses and db flyes wrong as well as damaged rotator cuffs.
It took 2 months of medical care to help rectify the situation. Luckily I've been fortunate enough to find someone in my own workcenter that IS a bodybuilder and has competed in competitions. He's taken his time to help me start training correctly on lifts that I've been doing wrong and in just the last month I've increased my poundage 15% and my mass by 6 pounds. I know that if anyone ever asks me a question, I will always take the time to help them out, and if I can't answer their question, I won't lie to them. I'll just tell them i don't know.

In the gym, most of the women use weights too light for themselves, and most of the men too heavy and sloppy. I have only one story to tell that pisses me off about a guy on a bench, making me wait 45 minutes for it, being rude, etc, which was enough to make sure that I only went there when it was not packed, because it wastes my time and 'ruins' my workout.

Unless the person is an obvious rookie and looks like they probably wont mind advice, I usually just do my best to ignore them. No point in sitting there laughing, your there to improve and compete against yourself, not someone else, so I just try to keep my own mind on the job and hand.

I'm also into cars, and various other things, and on so many message boards etc you come across people who don't know much, but obviously think they do, its annoying but thats just how life is. Give someone a little knowlege, and they can be dangerous with it, to themselves or others.

Ignorance breeds the same, tis life.

it's amazing how many people must enjoy wasting their time...

This site for me right now is my saviour, no more maintenance only stuff (maintaining what little I do have).
