If you're sneezing all over the place and snot's dripping everywhere stay home or go run by yourself outside. Otherwise I think it's ok, just be sure to eat and drink enough and get PLENTY of sleep. I always feel better after a workout no matter what my health is. Taking a little extra glutamine is helpful too, and I think it's a big reason why I've rarely gotten sick

No, it is a big reason why you are a self deluding douche noozle.
Why can't you contagious assholes stay home until your body has fought off your illness?

Just because you feel a little better doesn't mean you aren't still spreading your shit to every piece of equipment you touch.

i feel ya on this one, i am currently sick and was contemplating on wether going to lift today or not. i have fought through it all week and today i think this cold is peaking and hopefully gonna go away. since i live in college dorms i have gotten sick way more times this year than i normally do.

As long as it isn't a contagious condition, I say go. Kelju and the guys are talking about infectous stuff.....I just had some chest congestion and a bad diet, lol. If nothing else, go, drop some weight and do what you feel like doing. I see no problem with letting yourself off the hook...just not all together.

If you train at a public gym while you are sick, I hope you get ass cancer.
I was going to point this out. Do not train at a public gym if you are really sick. It just brings everyone else down. The gym I attended even listed not to attend if you are really sick. :barf:

Just out of curiosity, how many of you continue to train through minor illness? I believe there are studies showing that one's immune system seems to fight harder if one continues to move as opposed to giving in to the (minor) illness and "resting".

I usually work my way through everything, partly due to stubborness and moreso due to necessity....but I'll tell ya, this sinusitis thing has sapped all of my energy and I usually end up getting good and pissed off when I go through my workout at 50%. So is it worth it?

I do not. Weight training makes some heavy inroads to your immune system as it is, so when you are sick, it will take that much longer to get better
