Tricep bar

I recently bought one of those tricep bars -( | | )- and I couldn't wait to try it out doing skulls (laying french presses). But when we did we found that this bar doesn't let you fully extent at the bottom becuase of the shape of the bar and hand position. Needless to say I was dissapointed, until we tried incline skulls !!! What a perfect bar for that exercise !! Has anyone tried this ??? Our tri's were sore for days after we added this to our workout.

Ya, its a brill bar for incline skulls. Gives me a superb-pump
 
do you do incline sculls in the same motion (bring the bar to the same position and everything) as you would on normal skulls?
 
I love my hammer bar.

No really I love it.

It is in bed waiting for me right now.

I tried to think of as many exercises I could use it in to get my money worth, like pull-overs, incline press, backwards elbow curls, etc. I've been getting tendonitis in my right elbow lately so I've had to lay off my hammer bar :( but I'll get over it soon. Think it will work for calve raises?
 
On an incline bench I bring it behind the head, although I generally do that on a flat bench too, just not quite as far.

Actually I feel like a get a better range of motion using that bar on an incline bench. Can't do as much weight as with the EZ bar on a flat bench though.

Yes please do !! I can't wait til Monday so I can try a little more weight this time on the incline skulls :teeth: The first time was basically getting the form down and testing for the right weight.

Ok I did them tonight, and I agree they give one hell of a pump. I did not feel it as much durring the actual movements, but afterwards when i straightened my arm, i could feel all of the blood in there, another great exercise!!! thanks a lot guys!!
 
Yep, on the incline bench my first time I also just used a light weight, wasn't sure what I could do. I usually start with 1 set overhead dumbell, move on to laying french press, then inclines or standing cable pressdown, and then 1 arm extentions or kickbacks for the finisher.

I found the inclines a pretty good movement for keeping tension on the muscles, so it was a pretty brutal couple sets.

You got that right !! You pretty much have no choice but to keep tension on your tri's. When I do flat skulls, sometimes I find myself cheating and bringing the bar to far over my chest which takes the tension off the tri's. Hate when that happens :mad:

If you can force yourself to lean your arms back a tad, you can keep tension on them even more on the flat bench, I usually either do something like that or I just dont lock it out.
 
I used a pretty hefty incline myself, some even do it standing up. Heck, try all positions if you like, a moderate incline would provide much the same effect as holding your arms at a slight rearward angle while on the flat bench, which is to keep tension on the tri's constantly.
 
I think whatever you prefer is whats right, you do get a good stretch with a hefty incline though, if thats what your lookin' fer.
