Just started cutting... very slowly. My cal in take before(while i was bulking) was around 6,500 calories. Well i've been cutting down slowly and now im 3,500 calories a day. I've been training the same (1st mistake) except for just upping the reps to 15-20. and i was still doing 16+ sets per body part. Well yesterday i felt like i was beat with a brick.. i was SOOOOOO tired for no reason and i suppose its over training. I could not lift 1/3 of the weight i usually do. Im usually repping 315 7-8 times... i got it 3 times yesterday!

If anyone has any insight to my situation and/or how i should be training since i am cutting... i would deeply appreciate it.

Here's some stats and training info

5'8 238lbs(down from 258) around 19-20 percent BF.

i train 6 days a week and usually hit 1 or 2 bodyparts a day at 16+sets per body part.

First thing that came to my mind is OVERTRAINING in big bold capitalized letters! Wow, 16 sets X 20 reps, 6 days/week!
But I believed it was nearly impossible to overtrain on gear..?

When is the last time you took a break?

You cut your cals in half. It's natural to lose wieght on your lifts when "cutting"

Lower you volume on both accounts, too many days and too many sets

have you been training with such high volume for the past year ?

been usinga shitload of weight but LOW reps. like 6-8.

i took a 2 week break from lifting due to a back injury... i have not been off gear in a while.

Someone suggested that i workout only 3 times a week and cut back the sets ALOT... what u think?

How long ago was the two week break?. Maybe you need another. But then again that many reps may take its toll sooner or later. Take a couple of days off and try again. If still weak then lower everything. Reps and Sets

I don't think it's the calories... you're only 5-8 and 3500 is still a lot of calories... not really a cutting diet... more of a mild tapering diet at that height.

At 5-10 i'm cutting at 2400 cals.... and not really noticing too much extra fatigue... maybe with the cutting you aren't getting the proper amounts of minerals/vitamins? Are you supplimenting?

If I were you I'd just make sure I got 2 or 3 rest days a week (cardio can be done of course) and 16 sets is ok for big muscles but for smaller ones (bi's tri's etc) i'd reduce a bit...
