I've seen posts about this before but can not find any right now. I can not get the old fashion oatmeal down, not even after adding applesauce. Nasty stuff. But, I was thinking that maybe I could add some uncooked oatmeal to my protein shake and drink it down before it got thick.

How much should I add to 8 - 10 ounces of water and protein mix? I'm looking for a general amount. I don't want to experiment too much and wind up with too little or way to much.

Thx

I would go more for 16-24 oz. water

i hate oatmeal with a passion too and so i have learned to hide it well.

-6 egg whites
-whole egg
-1/2 cup of oatmeal

Soak oatmeal in egg whites for about 20 min and then wisk til fluffy. Heat up pan and spray with pam. Pour egg/oat mixture in and cook til brown. Put pb and/or no sugar added jam and MMMMMMMMM its a healthy pancake :D

How many scoops of protein ? I use the chocolate Optimum Whey protein and more than 16 oz of water with 1 scoops looks and tastes liek I'm drinking dirty water.

Also, whats the maximum grams of protein that should be consumed at any one time?

I don't know how much protein are you suppose to be eating per meal?

Assuming that I should get 1.5 grams of protein per pound of bodyweight, then I should consume approx. 240 grams/day or 40 grams per meal (on avg).

My question is more about the maximum amount that your body can absorb from 1 meal without turning it to fat.

Most people keep it under 50G per meal.

sounds yummy! I'll have to try this
:D

I think oatmeal is very bland, I have no problems downing it raw or cooked.

I do the raw uncooked oats/whey/water mix post w/o everyday. I find that the less water the more thick and chocolatey the oatmeal tastes. Mix the whey and water in a shaker bottle first and then pour as much as you need over the raw oats and drink the rest.

Am I the only one that likes oatmeal? Oatmeal w/ some fruit is probably one of my favorite things to eat.

I love oatmeal :)

J'Bo thanks for the recipe I tried something similar this morning because I couldn't remember the exact recipe. 2 eggs, 2 egg whites, 1/4 cup of oats, and PB after it was cooked. It looked like a pancake. Tasted like something else. Oh well. I'll keep trying.

Is oatmeal really that good for you? Hows it compare with cream of wheat?

BTW. Doesn't it seem like a big waste to only use the egg whites? Granted a dozen eggs only costs $1.

Just have to watch how many of those yolks you take in, it has healthy fats but you dont want to overdo it. There is also some protein in the yolk as well, 2.85g I think?

Jodi will have to post on that one, I forgot the breakdown :)
