US endorses UN gay rights text

the King James Version is just one of the more popular ones, and the one I read. That's why I said that Version. I am sure other religions have other versions..... not sure. And the Bible is a hard sell to the majority. If you are a religious person you are a minority. But also look back in history the U.S. was found on Christian views.

But, then it's not just black and white, there's a whole bunch of gray area there.

See what I mean ?

In some things I can see an argument for a gray area concerning the bible. In this case I have never been able to see gray though. God abhors all sin. sexual relations outside of marriage is a sin. Homosexual marriage was never practiced in Judaism or early Christianity during the time of Jesus or the apostles. where is the ambiguity here?

I don't see a grey area, it says between a man and a woman. (marriage) and it also says premarital sex is a sin. so if God does not want you to have sex outside of marriage and marriage is for a man and a woman, where does that leave homosexuality???

There's so many versions it's hard to say which is correct. After all when the bible was written 6,000 yrs. ago, not two, as some want us to believe, it was taken from pagan beliefs about the Zodiac and the Sun, and not the Son.

Maybe, but there was sodom and Gomorrah, and we know how that story ended!

My point is that the Bible was taken from earlier civilizations, then changed by men to control the masses, giving all misdeeds and atrocities justification under the name of god.

It also says we shouldn't eat shellfish. And that we shouldn't kill or committ adultery....So, we get to pick and choose, that's very capricious don't you think?

the bible was written 6,000 years ago? mathew, mark, luke, and john who lived at the time of Christ sure as hell didn't write their experiences 6,000 years ago. the new testament was written roughly 2,000 years ago.

stop attacking the bible. it has been done before and it is really just a waste. men have used the name of God for all types of evils. you will not find an argument to that point. this does not make God evil, or untrue. It just shows the weaknesses of man. something completely accepted and understood by all. it even shows the great need for God in mans life.

its funny that you have taken a thread about the US endorsing UN gay rights language and turned it into and anti-Christian attack. Well done.

are you really going to waste space with this crap? you sound like a fairly educated guy, so why continue on with this clearly wrong line of reasoning? there is nothing capricious about eating shell fish, or being against killing and adultery. any half assed study of the bible or Christianity will show why this is. the only reason to twist what is written in the bible is either laziness, or possibly something more sinister. I hope this is simply a case of the former.

Well, first of all thanks, I think?

But what came before Christianity ?

And where did it's story originate from?

And if you believe in god so much, why are you so judgemental?

Oh, I forgot you're a republican.

Is it true that it's technically against the bible to poop?

what came before Christianity? is this for real? Jesus Christ was a Jew. Judaism came before Christianity. The Old Testament is the record of the Jewish people.

I'm hardly going to go over a time line of the bible or of religions here on this thread.

I'm judgmental? you want to show me where? you have completely taken this thread about the US endorsing gay rights text with the UN or not, and taken it into a Christians are Republicans and judgmental and bad. where did you get such a burr up your ass?

come up with some legitimate and salient points to discuss. your last post had neither.

what is really your concern with the US signing or not signing this worthless piece of paper that will have absolutely no effect upon the world?

So, before judiasm there was no religeon ? Come on! Save your immature remarks for someone who will buy into your denial for reason, and continue to
believe in your book of metaphors and hyperboles. It's safe there.

I read the bible in my younger days, but I grew up!

That burr in my ass calls itself, Bio-chem.

I'm beginning to surmise that your concern is that, that worthless piece of paper wasn't signed at all.

My being polite with someone who is very impolite only goes so far, so with that I'll again say, in that book of yours, only god can judge correct? Learn this, know this, live this!

you want to show me where I have been impolite to you? dude, you need to start making sense. My concern is that the worthless piece of paper wasn't signed at all? WTF are you talking about? are you saying it is my belief that I wanted the piece of paper signed? Wouldn't that mean that we wanted the same thing? and if so why are you then attacking Christianity? Christianity and religion plays no roll in this yet you continually bring it up. why?

when did i say that before Judaism there was no religion? stop jumping to conclusions you know very little about. I said before Christianity there was Judaism. you may have read the bible in your younger days, but you certainly didn't take any time to comprehend it. Or if you did you have since forgotten it. You're obvious lack of understanding of the time line of the bible is laughable only in that you continue to make assumptions that are obviously incorrect even to a child in Sunday School.

That burr in your ass really isn't me. I would surmise that it is pent up anger over being a gay man that you lash out, often times without reason on any perceived slight of homosexuality.

What is it you want to discuss? do you want to talk about whether the US should sign or not sign this UN document? do you want to discuss the roll of Christianity in US politics? The time line of religions, or the bible? Or possibly Christianities belief on homosexuality? take your pick. Im more than happy to discuss any of these topics with you.

You think you're clever, but your not. If anyone is trying to cloud this issue with jibberish it's you. How can I expect for you to comprehend some other line of logic, when you're so closed minded that you believe yours is the only way...

I am not gay, it's called egalitarianism, but, if you would like to discuss this face to face, I'm positive I could straighten you out on this.

Oh, a tough guy? did you really call me out over the internet? Damn, how fucking pathetic. Next time you're in Utah let me know.

I would love to discuss any of the topics I brought up in my previous posts, or any others you want to bring up. I like other points of view, whether I agree or not I like to hear differing opinions from mine. How have I clouded the issue? I'm trying to define it. You have yet to focus on anything and have rambled from one thing to the next seemingly without reason or rational thought behind it.

So one last time. Are you for or against the language before the UN on gay rights? Do you think it will have any effect? If so, what? what is your belief on why the US should or should not sign this text? Why do you believe Bush did not sign it, and obama will? What effect is the Christianity of the US having on this issue before the UN? why do you hate Christians? why don't you understand the bible even though you read it when you were younger?

You're the biggest asshole on this forum, you're just a pathetic little bastard who has to talk shit on the computer and now you're going to try and turn this around on me. PATHETIC!

I've already said next time your in Utah. what more do you need?

I'm the one talking shit? dude, i've gone back and reread this thread and not once did you actually try and offer up any clarification for any of your asinine statements. when you get called on it your reaction is you want to meet up and fight? you have some severe issues that i think you should see a therapist for. hell give dr. drew or dr. phill a call because what you have is some major pent up anger.

honestly wanting to fight with someone because you got your feelings hurt over the internet? how can you let something with such little consequence effect you so much?

colin powell has some good advice on this. "Never let your ego get so close to your position that when your position falls your ego falls with it"

now clean the sand out of your vagina, wipe away your tears and come play with the big boys when you are ready to discuss this stuff maturely.

damn what did i miss? you two calmn down it's not all that serious. seriously would you want to travel 800 miles to kick someone's ass or even better drive that far and get your ass kicked!!!! that would be funny but hey it's the internet!!!!

everyone is a sinner! you are picking and chosing sins, all sins are the same in the eyes of God. telling a little lie is as bad as killing someone, a sin is a sin PERIOD. everyone sins, noone is perfect, but that is why people pray and go to church to try and become a better person. but it seems you are on a anti-Christian kick so i will leave it alone.

c'mon every sin is the same? i don't believe that murder is the same a little lie.

You didn't hurt my feelings, bitch!

But, i'll break your phuquin neck, weasel.

And with that, I will no longer validate anymore of your immaturity.

:roflmao:

a sin is a sin, we are not talking law. we are talking about sins in the eyes of God. and yes a sin is a sin they are the same

I know we are not talking law. you want to show me where it says all sins are equal in the eyes of God? it seems to me that in the book of leviticus there were different offerings/sacrifices required for different sins. this seems to show to me at least a difference in degrees of sin.

what religion are you talking about??? offerings/scrafices, what??? you pray for forgiveness at that's it. and no there is not different levels, God does not see different levels. He sees sin. He stated what sins are and he said do not commit them and that is it. He didn't say well if you do this one it is less of an offense than this one, no He said it is sin don't do it. what was the punishment for Adam and Eve eating that apple? All man kind has to pay for it by dying, over an apple. He said don't eat it, period. also they walked around naked and didn't know they were different until they ate the apple then they started clothing themself in shame because of differences. But i'm not here to religious debate, I do not thing religion should be debated.

Bio, it's cool dude. I have my moments, and if I have insulted you, I apologize
humbly!

Im really not looking for a debate. just learning actually. if someone has a different understanding than i do I want to know why. sorry if it came off like i was looking for a debate

I personally don't care if it's accepted by the bible, but I want to see these agencies and governmental bodies step up and support gay marriage (that would show some balls!).

I love the bible and I'd say we all know what it expressly states, but we also know its meaning goes much deeper and is very heavily rooted in the context of its authors. It is true that homosexuality, as it is practiced today, was not practiced in the time of Jesus (or at least it was not known to them and therefore was not "natural" as Romans put it). So I don't think we can really use the bible to accurately reflect on homosexuality of today. They USED to have sex with young boys and accepted that behavior, we don't do that and certainly don't accept the behavior.

The bible is full of many contradictions and good stories, and that's good because it kind of shows the duality of man and, apparently, God. There is nothing wrong with that, we (homosexuals) are really just part of that dual nature - and the bible shows both sides existing in harmony so I believe it can and should in real life.

I am certainly not a religious scholar, but I have had a lot of time to think about things and to try and develop a closer relationship with God and this is all simply what I believe so take it for what it's worth (there's too much fighting right now anyways).

bio not debating, and if someone wants to know more i will gladly tell them what i have learned.
