Hi

is being a vegetarian makes it hard to excel in bodybuilding?!
is meat and stuff like that a must?
and if I am a vegetarian, is it a must to take supplements?

Thanks in advance

Mike

It's difficult but doable. There are protein powders, tofu, boca burger, quarn and legumes all high in protein. If you eat fish well then definately try to get as much of that in. What about eggs and milk and cheeses?

It's tough to be vegetarian and "buildbodies", but not impossible. I am a lacto-ovo vegetarian (which means eggs and dairy are ok). I am about 99% strict, rarely (once every 4-6 months) having a little shrimp or salmon. So most of my protein comes in the can or in a wrapper. Although it sometimes seems like alot of money, I just consider it food. In the long run it is probably cheaper than meat. Not as tasty though I guess. Beans, p-butter, extensive amounts of veggie burgers, fake bacon, fake ribs, fake chicken, whole wheat pasta, milk, shitloads of eggs. Morningstar Farms makes all the fake products, usually found in the frozen section. I easily get 160-200 g per day, I weigh 175(ish). I have been a "grass eater" for about 7 years with my wife (that sounds funny) and we have no problem now with our diet. Initially we ate too many carbs, but not any more. BTW, whole wwheat pasta sucks unless you cook it to death. Like I said, I am about 175 with 9% BF, and IMHO look prettty damn good. IT takes work, alot of hot sauce, salt and pepper and mustard.

You think that one doesn't need that to help the plain skinless chicken breast down, too? I can tell ya, I'd much rather have a nice Yves Veggie sausage some days.

Hard enough putting on lean lbs, let alone on Tofu, soymilk, etc...

Find a new hobbie.

Part of the Process Anti-christ. :finger: :finger: :finger:

what process?? impossible to build some serious mass on that diet.

You claim to be 175 lbs?? well, you need to be no taller than 5'5 then if you pretend to look like you lift some weights, let alone be called "big"

Nothing against that though, I am 6'0 myself and 190 8%bf and I am not big by any standards. Nor I want to be. But my point is, to get BIG you need dead animals on your plate. period.

Maybe it can be done in theory, but then again in theory you can sling a rock fast enough to reach the moon. Does it happen often? I don't think so.

I guess my "Anti christ" self denomition bothers you? Maybe if you go ptay to your own invisible man in the sky will help you grow while eatin grass, good luck.

I may be off topic, but isn't egg an animal by nature? And if you eat shrimp or salmon, the last time I checked, they swim, and had to be literally "killed" to be on a platter. It's like the philosophy question, "Are you pregnant?" There is no "I'm somewhat pregnant" or "A little pregnant". You are either fully pregnant, or just not. Wouldn't that make lacto-ovo (first time I've heard of this term) vegetarians omnivores then?

errrr....I guess, I just don't understand vegetarians and never will, that's all. Everyone has something they can't understand and fear and I'm not afraid to admit that vegetarian lifestyle and vegetarians are just strange to me.

Ok, assholes, I was providing a response for someone. Am I a vegetarian, yes, have I cheated about 6 times over the last 5 years, yes. IF you quit smoking and have one a year later that doesnt make you a smoker. And I was the one who made the decision to be a vegetarian, its not like I am supposed to be and I am violating some fucking law, so back off. As I said, I am an ovo-lacto vege, which can eat eggs and dairy. Eggs are a natural process of chickens, not necessarily having anything alive inside (check your facts before you get smartassed, smartass) . They are not alive unless they get fertilized by a mail. 80% of all eggs are unfertilized. They are a simple "by-product" of an animal. As is dairy. I am not a vegan, which doesnt eat anything ever alive (sensient (sp) or wear anything that was alive. Get your terms right and facts before you slam someone. I dont mind being slammed, but be right in the process. That is half the problem with this board that enrages me (that the extra test floating in me) people go off half cocked without checking their facts. And I am 177, 5'9" and look very much like I lift weights. I dont look like Dorian Yates, but I have quite a muscular physique. Again, shut the fuck up if you dont know what you are talking about. I may not say much in here most of the time as evidenced by my number of posts, but whatever I say will be right. PEace out

Sorry about the asshole...half the jerk-offs in here are miserable little fuck sticks...throwing rocks to the moon??...LOL...building a vegetarian physique is not as hard throwing rocks to the moon.

Being a vegan is not my style but if any of you would take a second and search the web you will find numerous vegan bodybuilders with great physiques.

Resulting to personal insults and attacks is a clear sign of a lack of vocabulary and knowledge, not to say class...

Did you ever drop on your head while mountain climbing?? lol....

I don't see why people are getting riled up. No insults need to be thrown at people who choose to eat a certain type of food. I would think that taking a good protein powder is fine. Personally I rely on MM Protein powder and also a time release High 5 protein powder from Max Muscle for just before bed. I'm doing fine :) You don't need meat for protein tho I personally love chicken from time to time and some beef.

Tho any easy easy simple vegetarian dishes would be appreciated if some of you vegeterians could give a few Idiot's Guide to vegetables for me that would be nice :)

Key word : simple heh.

Powder Protein doesnt violate vegetarian diets right? ( I don't think so )

* maybe also suggest taking a good NO supplement -_- try for a month while also taking protein powders to supplement protein needed.

Yeah if your lacto ovo you can take whey and eat eggs, which seem to be incredible sources for protein. just eat plenty of all of these.

And this wasnt a personal attack? Right

you must be really insecure if you consider that a personal attack.
