punching is all technique. ever see the famous 1 inch punch? i grew up around martial arts tournaments my whole life (muay thai, kickbowing, mixed competition, ufc type shit) and ive also practiced various styles of kung fu for the past yrs (southern mantis kwang sai jook lum of the tong long pai, chi tao chuan, hsing i, bagua). size and strength actually mean very little in a fight. experience is key, readiness and reaction, and clear calm thinking will benefit you most. sparring is only good for sport related martial arts, kung fu is not for sport or competition. the main goal of kung fu is to end a fight by any means necessary as quickly as possible. my master once told me kung fu is the art of killing and restraint. we would actually match against each other at the temple(school). every1 would sit on the floor in a circle, sifu would pick 2 students to get in the middle and actually fight under his supervision while his 2 disciples kept everything under control and in the circle using wooden staffs. i mean ppl werent severly beaten during the matching but if u missed a block u might leave witha broken nose. i learn best like that so it was all good with me. if u want the real deal in martial arts kung fu is the way to go only make sure its real and traditional

I use the high cable on my home gym and throw jabs and also cross punches. The lower cable works great for upper cuts and cross punches. Prior to that, I'd been using the high cable in a shoulder height pulling motion, to build strength for shooting archery. I placed my other hand against the upright to simulate the actual holding of a bow. I also did equal amounts of sets and reps for each side. Sorry for the thread drift.

that video holds no relevancy on the effectiveness of ju jitsu vs kung fu. kung fu has no place in tournmant fighting as 90% of the techniques can not be used with out causing serious injury to the opponent.

take it and you will understand why. most kung fu techniques are used to maim an attacker by attacking vital areas like the eyes, throat, groin, nerve bundles, etc.

kung fu is not for sport, it's main goals is to end a confrontation by any and all means neccessary

NHB fights have rules which pretty much go against the basic nature of the art

you make that statement then claim to know about martial arts. of course the martial art that has been around for over a THOUSAND years is alot of hype yet the new watered down styles are proven over there 100 or so years of fighting for sport. kung fu is the original oriental martial art. because of kung fu all the other japanese and korean styles came to be. as i previously stated kung fu cannot be used in competition at all. as LAM said 90% of the moves are illegal in competition which is true but id say more like 95%. by your ignorant and stupid comments i can already tell that you know very little about any martial arts so im not gonna waste my energy getting into all of this.

Ok, Mr. 6 Posts...

Jiu-Jitsu, which means gentle art is the oldest form of martial art. It originated in India more than 2000 years before Christ. It was created by monks who could not use any type of weapons to defend their lives against barbarian attacks. It spread through China, and eventually took root and was elaborated on in Japan becoming the first martial art style. The samurai clans in Japan adopted Jiu-Jitsu as their own traditional style to defeat an opponent regardless if the situation was striking, throwing or grappling. With the passing years, they split the techniques and developed other martial arts styles, such as judo, akido, karate, etc.

These so called illegal strikes are taught in MANY diciplines. I went to a seminar which covered vale tudo, and it covered most of these pressure points. There is nothing special about that. You can mix Tae Kwon do, throw in some backflips, and talk about hitting vital organs and such and call it kung fu, it doesnt make it special. MANY disciplnes teach you to hit these area and how to do it effectively. That doesnt make it BETTER or more DANGEROUS, because I CAN GOUGE YOUR EYE OUT TOO.
