Whats bad about these?

I know. In general us hardcore guys like to avoid protein bars, and usually leave them as a last resort.

So...Lets say your a college kid like me pretty damn lean, and its 1am and your at the club living it up enjoying your youth, and talking to a few chicas or chicos (depending on your sexual preference). LOL Anyways, obviously you can't walk up to the bar and order 2 shots of whey protein, or 1 scoop of casien on the rocks.

So my best option is to toss a protein bar in my pocket, and whip it out in the club/bar and chow down to avoid being catabolic. Not really too weird, taking out a bar and eating as, as opposed to taking out a big thing of tupperware packed in my underwear...ahahha

It's obviously not egg whites, and oats...But what really makes this a bad choice? Would having one-two of these on weekend nights every week have a negative effect on me? I mean obviously its extra calories, but I just mean in general. The bar seems like such quality to me.

Oh really? I was kinda warding off of those since they only had 20g protein, and under 300 cal...Doesn't seem to hold me over the 2-3 hours I need it to...And the sugars were kinda high?
 
But the sugars were from natural sources. I still think those are the best protein bars.

are you boosin it up at the club, if you are then just eat the bars. one day eating something is not going to hurt you. your in college, live your life it don't last forever.
 
yeah i doubt you'll go very catabolic due to a lack of calories if you're out drinking - there will be tonnes of calories in your alcohol / mixers. I'd be thinking more about just drinking enough water to get my body through it.

Good point, I maybe boose once out of every 10x i go, because I know the negative affects.

I just spent 4 days in Vegas and other than drinking beer from the time I woke up to the time I passed out every night (or the next day), I think I had 4 meals:

1 stack of pancakes with some sausage
1 club sandwich
2 Fruit bowls

Although I didn't see any gains in those 4 days, I didn't notice any lose either. You're in college so about 10 years younger than me... I am pretty sure the odd protein bar (or cheeseburger) while partying on the weekend, isn't going to wipe out all your gains.

I think if your going to do this once a week at most its perfectly fine. If your out drinking the only two things you wanna worry about are keeping your body hydrated and before hitting the sack making sure you've ingested some kind of protein source and to be honest, as you say, you just want something quick and easy, like those bars for example.
