NPC Texas Chairman Lee Thompson Indicted on Federal Steroid ..

IFBB Pro, NPC competitors, Judge all charged in steroid bust ..

Lots and lots of spider veins leading into the top levels of the NPC and IFBB. I could be wrong adn I hope I am but I think you guys are living in denial and I'm not talking about teh river in Egypt.

the extremes they go to are nuts but the pressure to look bigger and better every year has made it like this. I don't blame the aas more so the stimulants and diuretics. on the other hand what most of them acheive is amazing. I mean look at jay he's a fing beast

You're absolutely right. It's not just the AAS, it's everything and each drug should be accounted for. The problem is within the human. I love to eat, train, sleep and pump MG's of test into my muscles! :winkfinger:

You missed my point... My point was that statistics are usually BS. I can't answer your question because there is no proof, and I know this. :winkfinger:

IMHO, there is no doubt that steroids will hurt us in the long run. Even the simplest form which would be weight gain. Running cycles, gaining weight and dropping weight after PCT only to gain it again on another cycle will cause stress on the heart. Any weight gained or lost over a small time will be stressful to the heart. I'll gain weight in 6 weeks that would take me over a year to gain because of my friends enanthate & cypionate :) Can you deny this?

I never said its the healthiest thing one can do, but it won't kill you.

people being busted for AAS possession/use, selling, etc. has been going on for years, I don't see your point.

I guess thats why u dont see mr. o on p.p.v. their trying to stay under the radar. Back in the 90s you could get the O ,on ppv. but thats not the case now. trying to stay out of the general publics eye?

I always wondered why they never aired it on ESPN or anything. It makes sense.

I believe if smoking tobacco and drinking booze is legal which clearly has no positive side and slowly kills you. Why shouldn't steroids be legal to take which don't slowly kill you and have a positive side if done properly.:hmmm:

:hmmm: Studies have shown that 1-2 glasses of red wine a night may reduce the risk of heart disease.

No you don't. Look maybe I'm wrong. Maybe the whole IFBB will go on in perpetuity unfettered and no one will ever collapse on stage or no one will ever care if the chemical monsters drop dead. No scumbag reporter will never elbow his way in and start blatting on about the horrors of the sport in Sports Illustrated or Vanity Fair. That's right.. maybe no body gives 2 shits about the guys that beat their kidneys to death with pain killers, AAS, EPO, diuretics and all the rest in the grand quest for size and cuts for the schmoes jack off materials. But what I am saying with my last post is that people high up in the NPC and IFBB have been under investigation and worse so if that is not a negative indicator I don't know what is. Like I said.. I hope I'm wrong. I grew up idolizing some of the guys in the 70s and 80s. I'd hate to see it crumble into the sea. Sadly my paranoia usually leads to the correct answer.

I think what as to be understood is that the ones dropping dead are the ones also abusing other substances such as narcs/alcohol etc. etc. Big doses of aas or even hgh are not fatal BUT it's the misuse of insulin (insulin is a pretty complicated drug) and the abuse of other substances (narcs/painkillers/alcohol) etc. that are doing the wrong and sending these guys to the morgue

my thoughts are that the government should worry about things that are important and keep their noses out of pro sports completely.

This.

However the media will have a field day when the first athlete keels over during a posedown.

there is also no evidence that too many concussions will cause serious health problems later in life. however early onset depression, dimesia, suicidal tendacies are being seen in pro athletes who suffered many of these, is it just a coincidence?? no

Believe it has less to do with the IFBB wanting to avoid investigation and more with a general lack of interest in the sport. It's a small fan base.

I'm a fan of men's and women's bodybuilding but I'm outnumbered by NFL, MLB, NBA, NASCAR fans and other fans by far.

Not to mention the 1980 Olympia. Arnold and his friends put the kibosh on the Wide World of Sports coverage when he stole the show and, many would say, the title during that competition in Australia.

Wide World filmed it but never aired the program as it seemed the fix was in. Arnold heard perhaps his first boos when he was awarded the winner's trophy.

Wasn't Victor and others busted or approached by the feds at the Arnold Classic several years back?

Or do I have that all wrong?

who has ever died from AAS use?

I agree with you. The New England Journal of Medicine published an article either this year (2011) or last year and it did long term studies of guys on AAS. They worst side effect they found was severe back achne in a guy that was very sensitive to them. Otherwise they couldnt prove any correlation between the negative side effects. I will note, however, that this was USE of AAS and not ABUSE. There is a difference and if you guys dont know that, then you shouldnt even be on this site.

I don't recall the specifics but I think yeah at the Arnold a few years back.

Yes, I believe he spent time in jail back in 200.

I am not a true fan and do not follow the sport. Of course, like many of us, I grew up idolizing the builds of dudes in all magazines I bought in high school and college. I played sports so I used gear for a different reason, although after college it was pure vanity as I won't count flag football and softball. But I have loosely seen the changes that have happened in the 15-20 years since reading flex and muscle and fitness. The change of true 285 pound freaks.

I think a another change is inevitable. We will someday see more ex-BBer and WWF wrestlers develop heart disease. I think we will also see a very high incidence of stroke and cardiac arrest in this population. A big magazine like Time, or even ESPN will write a story about it. Then the decision to change a sport would be done by the IFBB.

I think they will start awarding physiques for more natural type aesthetics, like arnold or Zane. These guys will win over the massively ripped freaks of today. This shift in vision of sport is the only way that you will see a change. But I think it will be done internally, since if the gov't wanted to intervene, they would have already. BBing is not mainstream, and will never be. But it will be a mainstream catalyst that produces the change of the sport.

JMO, but I could be wrong.

god i hope so. i would follow alot more that forshure

Look here it is. Do me a pro and maintain that kind of size you have to use BOATLOADS OF DRUGS AND GH, PERIOD. i have have several clients who are top npc guys and a few pros as well. I will never drop names but its not a big secret. They take huge ammounts of gear and gh. If they tell you other wise they are being dishonest. But who cares, its none of our business what xx dude takes , just like it is none of our business what say gymrat or murf takes.

I have a buddy right now trying to go pro and he uses 30 iu of gh everyday. 3 vials a day. Thats 9 kits a month guys. if you want to walk around and look like a pro bb'er, or become a ifbb pro,you are gonna have to use a boatload of test and anabolics, period!!

But who cares, thats what they wanna do. But im not gonna sit by and let the people think these guys are doing 500 mg of test a week and 400 mg of deca, and there 265 lbs of muscle at 5 foot 7 lol. But im not gonna judge them either, i love pro bb'ing, and they are gonna do what it takes to be the best they can. And i love them for it, i pray also that they are not leading themselves to an early grave. Of course i dont know that they are, i just hope thyere not, as that is not worth it at all.

like i posted previously, using gear is healthy and beneficial. and doing cycles will not effect your health negatively unless you have pre existing health conditions. however we do not know the outcome of these guys in this era that use massive amounts of gh, aas, and slin, and diuretics. there frankly isnt enough evidence for that and they are the 1rst generation to be doing this stuff. but all these years of abuse with such drugs can have ill effect

Incidentally I ran into a retired pro last night in my gym. He let himself go for the last 4 years so he was out of shape but you could tell he had been pretty massive. He had about a 15 minute conversation. It was odd how open he was with use. He did a ton of AAS, GH and insulin through the 90s and into the early 2000s. He said the whole thing was rough on the kidneys. He looked healthy. He is 47. The guy has been back at it for about a month. I think he did about 50 sets for biceps. Still an animal in the gym.

steroid can be benificial but very simple like all things in life once you start abusing them then the risks are much greater.

Anyone ever seen the movie "Bigger, Faster, Stronger"? Pretty good movie, and in part shows the stupidity of congress when it comes to AAS, and the fact that Vitamin C is proven to kill more people every year than AAS by the CDC, goes to show that if the government can't get a hand in it, they won't legalize it!
