wasn't Mark Henry like one of the first guys to clean and press the Inch? I believe he was some kind of strength athlete, but then switched to wrestling as there is definitely more money in it.
Other than that, i don't think any of them actually. I know Goldberg was/is strong, heard his bench was supposed to be insane like 500+ or something. but gym strength doestn' necessarily mean you'll be good at strongman. the lifts take technique, and events like the yoke and farmers walk take endurance but most of all you need to give it 110%. i've seen those guys pull off lifts that never in a million years i would think they would complete, but somehow they push through and get it. Strongman is the ultimate test of strength, it tests all forms of strength and is really grueling and painful, i can't wait to get some implements already.
as an example of the dedication those guys have, Svend Karlsson (sp?) competed in the 2004 WSM with a partially torn quad. he didn't do well at all, and couldn't complete some events but what i remember from that WSM was the 900lb fridge carry (they're version of a Yoke). the guy was barely moving but finished the event nonetheless with a partially torn quad!! that takes heart, caue you could see the pain and limp everytime he stepped on that leg, really inspiring.
