Which Would you prefer

Ok all you young studs out there, Which Would you prefer or which do you think looks better, Hugh Bi's or Hugh Tri's
Tris, PT. Its all about tris. Many people get hung up on bi's, but I think thats just because of popular posing. Power comes from the tris. Thick strong arms come from tris.

So my vote, in 100% confidence, is triceps. :thumb:

Tris no doubt

You depend on more strong triceps than biceps for core lifts.

TRIS ALL THE WAY! if you whant to have big arms, train your tris .........because these babies are 2/3 of the arm-size

Triceps, b/c have big biceps and very small tri's would look really freakin weird

definetly triceps...huge biceps are way overrated

Triceps for me also. Not just aesthetics, but as others have said, for functional strength.

triceps... makes the whole arm look bigger as it is large then the bicep muscle anyhow.

I am not a young stud, but I like to look at them!;) I think if I HAD to choose one or the other it would be tris. But I like arms that are symetrical

yah, what he said! lol

obviously most men prefer having bigger tri's. Now what I'm about to say I don't want you younger folks out there to take this the wring way. I do know a few things and one of them is men try to impress other men, that's our nature and the same goes for lady's. I just wonder what the women think looks better on a man big biceps or triceps?
Come on all you young pretty things out there tell us what you like!

How are the triceps more functional? Both muscles are used quite frequently. I think it is hard to classify one muscle as more functional than the other. It really depends on what your daily activities consist of. I, for example, use my biceps a lot than my triceps at work.

For my purposes I find that my triceps directly affect what I am trying to accomplish, I should have restated that. I was tired and in a hurry.

Triceps are important to me because of what I am trying to accomplish at this time, meaning heavier compound lifts. I also use my triceps (heavy pushing movements) alot more thorugh out the day. So, in retrospect I should have stated , to provide more functional strength for myself. Better?

Tris are the shit...

Bis are ok, but when are you pulling towards you all that much? Im not too knowledgable on the subject, but my 2 cents are that tris are 90% of your arm strength for what your gunna do with your arms.. Thats assuming you arent pulling things all day.

If you're gunna beat the crap out of someone its all tris, is it not? Plus big tris are off the chain!

EDIT: I agree with the dude above.

I suppose, but even that statement encompasses the usage of bicep strength. Compound lifts include the bench press, military press, and other pressing movements, clearly. However, compound movements also include bent rows, pullups, and other pulling/rowing movements. Hence, the biceps are very important for compound movements as well.

I am not saying that you don't use your triceps more; you obviously know the kinds of physical activities you are involved in. My only point is that there are plenty of compound movements that involve the biceps.

With that said, I would rather have a bice balance of the two. If I had to pick one, then I suppose it would be triceps because of their greater contribution to overall arm mass.

Again, I don't see how 90% of arm strength is tricep related. Whenever you pick up an object, you are using your biceps.

In the past i would have said bi's. But now i would say "appropriately balanced bi's and ti's" for a more balanced/rounded look. I have seen guys with huge bi's and lagging tri's and some with massive tri's that dwarf their bi's.

Triceps, definately,i think its been covered why they rule already....just preaching to the choir.... :thumb:

90% of arm strength is definetly not from the triceps but extensors are always stronger muscles than flexors. you should always be able to lift more with the triceps than with the biceps, same goes with the quads and hamstrings...

Certainly. I never stated otherwise. I just felt people were overemphasizing the importance of tricep strength relative to bicep strength.
