i see most people eatting mainly egg whites and i assume it's from the chloresterol(sp?) in whole eggs. i like to eat scrambled eggs and it doesn't get boring to me. it's also quick to fix. my question is how many whole eggs can you eat in a day to stay in a healthy area of chloresterol?

i eat 4 whole eggs a day.

Cholesterol and fat, 4 whole eggs is totally reasonable IMO. However everyones cholesterol levels are different.

I think the government says 4 or 5 a week though, someone else will chime in I'm sure.

Just remember that 4 whole eggs is 20G Fat. :)

poop.

how do you know how much protein/fat is in egg whites?

1 Large Egg White
17 Cals
3 Protein
0 Fat

Most of us use www.fitday.com to track our foods. :D

I have eaten as much as 6 or 7 whole eggs in one day.

I have eaten 66 :D But not whole eggs.

Large - grade AA
Fat 4.5g (yolk)
Protein of the entire egg: 6.25
Protein of just the Yolk is 2.85
Just the white: 3.5

i eat 4 whole eggs in my morning meal, would my cholesterol get to high? does playing basketball 2-3 hours a day along with 45-60 min of weightlifting for 5 days can help me get rid of the cholesterol?

Oatmeal reduces cholesterol supposedly, without getting it measured though I'd not want to say anything about it. I eat 4 with breakfast too, so here's hoping :)

4 seems to be the magic number! :)

thanks for all the help guys and girl! :)

I'm a tad over 230 pounds so for me I need 4 to make it more than one spoonfull :D

I think you can handle 4 quite easily. When living in Iceland the guys that went to the gym there would meet up in the galley and have hb egg eating contests... some days we did well into the 20s. Now thats possibly not healthy :D

yeah Mudge, I'm around the 233ish mark.

Yeah, I could eat like 20 hardboil eggs a day. :D

I know that some people in colder regions or farm hands eat lots of fat, but they have some kind of excuse. I think Fit Freak is one of the diet masters around here so hopefully he can clear some things up.

Providing you keep your fat within your a allowance for that meals, have the eggs if you want them. Just make sure to get some EFA's in at some point throughout the day. :)

Ever seen the Jackass egg challenge?
If they did, it must be healthy :D :thumb:

Recent studies are suggesting there is something (enzyme maybe?) contained in the egg yol that actually inhibits abosoptionof cholesterol from eggs.

Based on the recent medical findings I say go ahead and eat the yolks...just be sure you do so within your daily fat guidelines. Although the yolks contain fat they also contain some very important and rare amino acids:)

I do not think "we" are eating more whites than yolks because of the dietary cholesterol in eggs, it's the fat content.

these days I am eating more egg beaters, much easier to prepare and they contain zero fat.

the egg/cholesterol scare is nothing but media bullshit. remember that 80% of serum cholesterol is manufactured by the body the remaining 20% comes directly from dietary sources. true the 80% will be manufactured from dietary sources but genetics plays a majory factor.

there are tons of studys with persons who consume low fat, low cholesterol diets who have high serum cholesterol values..

personally I consume at least 6 whole eggs a day and my cholesterol stays right around 112.

I would say to eat the amount that feels comfortable to you and to make sure it stays in your limits for fat, etc.

I have high cholesterol (219), but it runs in my family and my doctor said that I don't need to change my diet or anything. I eat eggs all the time, so I don't think they raise your cholesterol too much, if at all.

If you want to be sure, then you should probably get your cholesterol checked or ask your doctor.

Glad you mentioned this. I never saw this thread.

I personally think the main reason (probably not the only reason though) that "bad" cholesterol levels are so high in people these days is because they're eating loads of processed food such as refined sugars which isn't getting cleared cause they're eating so much of it.

Also, do realise that having "high" cholesterol means bollocks all alone. The ratio of HDL to LDL is what determines whether "high" cholesterol is a bad thing or not.

Wouldn't scrambling only the egg whites make then almost impalatable?. Have given up on shreddies, how do I put eggs into porridge?

There is a guy who I used to know who was shall we say ripped and he ate 30 eggs a day

Wouldn't eating scrambled egg whites makes then impossible to eat? Can anyone advise me on how to cook egg whites in porridge oats?.

There is a guy I used to know who was ripped and ate 30 eggs on a good day and 24 on a bad. He said that he eats half of them raw straight after he trained and everything. He was Arnies size and had only been training for a year

 Why would you want to put your eggs in your oats :barf:

I read on MOnica Brant's website that is what she does. She mixes in 2-3 egg white into her oats, using less water.

I tried it once and it was G R O S S. I'd say eat your oats and whites on the side:thumb:

Then we know right off the bat that he was both genetically gifted and on a ton of drugs, for him to reach Arnold's size in a mere year.

what's the nutrional info for one fried egg?

i think i may start eating more eggs... possibly 4 a day... when should they be eaten? breakfast? lunch? whenever?

i usually eat my eggs postworkout.

i doubt it really matters when you eat your eggs.

At the moment my first meal, is porridge and two protein tablets ( yeah I know I changed it AGAIN),
my second in two slices of bacon ( unsmoked), and scrambled eggs ( who whites one whole)

My third, bacon, egg, potato cakes and peeled plum tomatoes

the fourth is chicken caesar pasta ( 279 protein 549 carbs).
my fifth is the same or chicken fajitas
and my sixth in a piece of fruit and two protein tablets before bed
