Is there anyway that you can build up the size and strength of your wrists?

Yes, there is a board on grip strength also.

I prefer 2-3 sets each of wrist extentions (first) then wrist curls with no finger action. Dont do the movements quickly and dont use a ton of weight (carpel).

alternate hands during masterbation, that should equal out the grip between the two wrists. :p

 sorry, couldn't resist

I don't work my wrists out every week. Should I? I need to build wrist strength for softball.

K i was totally going to say that. I came here specifically to put my two cents in when you already said it. Its true though masterbation is the top way to build strong forearms, plus you have the added bonus of.....you know what....

I'm not so sure I want to know....:scared:

Behind the back wrist curls are good, and you can pack a lot of weight on the bar without hurting yourself. If grip strength and forearm size are what you're looking for, I'd recommend checking out John Brookfield's "Mastery of Hand Strength"

I've been training my grip, forearms, and wrists hard for the last four months (in addition to my regular workout) and have added almost a half an inch to my wrists and a full inch to my forearms. The increased size of my wrists is due to the skeletal structure becoming a little thicker (funny how the body grows to meet the physical demands placed upon it) and the tendons have grown larger too.

My favorite forearm burner is a simple toy I made. It's a piece of 1" pipe about a foot long with a hole drilled through it. A 6' piece of rope is attached to the pipe by way of the hole that was drilled. Then I tied a loop in the other end of the rope that is large enough for the pipe to fit through. When I want to use it, I simply put the loop end of the rope through some plates, put the pipe through the loop and pull it tight, so the plates are basically tied to the rope. Then I'll roll the pipe in my hands so the weight is wound all the way up to the pipe, slowly lower the weight again, and then wind the weight up by rolling my hands in the opposite direction. The next toy like this that I make is going to have a 3" pipe instead of a 1" pipe to really work the grip

Does anyone have the URL for the grip bulletin board?

ok i have no more posts to add, cause i cant take this thread seriously. When ever i read it i crack up.

You really need to elaborate on your last post........

Ok thanks for the advice. Yeah I figured I would only be able to build up the tendons around my wrists.

I have those little hand grip things,(that you just squeeze) anyone had any luck with those?

Yeah, I figured something as simple as the wristroller has to have been used by someone before. I'm really new to the whole strength and fitness scene, but reading bulletin boards like this has helped bring me out of the dark. There are other things I've been doing that I've just now realized have been around forever

Lightman, do you mean the Captains of Crush Grippers? Those are fun too. I closed the #2 on my first try with the right hand, but it took me a couple months to get it closed with the left. I like to bring it to the gym and have people try it just to watch the expressions on their faces :)

I dont really know what your talking about, but I would assume its a similar thing.

They aren't making those grippers anymore, since each one had to be calibrated and "dyno tested" it was getting too tedious for them to make it, I came across that info on the grip board some time ago.

I believe they said the worst of it was the sheer mass email questions they got about them, and thusly I think any email questions will receive a template or be ignored from now on because its dragging thier biz down.

There are I believe 5 total grippers in the series, the last one only a couple or few people in the world have closed, I think it was a 475#? But I could be wrong.

Oh, RE: wrist size, remember Flex Wheeler :)

They are either back in production or it was some other company and I was smokin the devil-weed.

Start with our Trainer, which is literally about two or three times the strength of a sporting goods store gripper and work your way up. The No. 1 will stop most guys who lift weights; the No. 2 is rarely closed; the No. 3 has only been closed by about a dozen men in the world (and most of the strongest have tried!); and the No. 4 has been closed by only one man.

Now I have to get some :D
