Provided you are flexible enough, going past parallel is actually safer than just parallel.To an extent, there is no reason to risk injury by goin ass to grass if you don't feel confident or comfortable with it.

There is about a half inch difference between ass to grass and the top of my quads being parallel to the ground. I feel that last little bit buts my lower back under more stress.
Danny, don't think that because the guy was a good wrestler that he knows everything. Often times, people are simply destined for a certain sport because of their natural ability and other factors.
If you want to have strong legs, go at least parallel. It is as simple as that. I can show you a couple hundred body building magazines where some asshole just makes shit up for the sake of selling an over priced magazine.
