The last couple of times I have gone to do bi curls I pick up the weight get into position then as soon as I begin the movement my wrist hurts. Once hurt it stays sore all day, and days after. I tried rubbing deep heat half an hour before trying yesterday for the first time for about a week and straight away it hurt. I hurt my left hand by falling on it a month or two ago but it does it with my right also.

What other movements can I do for bis - tris that doesn't put direct stress on my wrists?

Would wrist straps help?

Do you think I have a joint problem? (need to supplement or change diet?)

You have shin splints if I'm not mistaken. It's a common problem. Avoid barbell curls for a while. Anything that causes pain is bad, for the moment. If dumbell curls etc. also hurt, you might want to take a week off.

When was your last deloading week? What's your age?

Wrist straps won't help you a lot. They don't really protect the wrists.

"Ice, rest, rinse, repeat." P-Funk would say, I think.

Shin splints?

If you don't mind me saying...wtf?

Yeah I thought shin splints happened to your lower leg after too much running or jumping

Just rest your wrists and try again in a week or two

Dont go too heavy on the curls. Maybe that movement and high weights are stressing your joints too much.

Never had any prob with wrists or gripping.

Makes me wonder why these topics come up so often?

Yeh I have had problem with that too. Changes some things and its been good lately.

Last deload a couple months back. Havn't been going to hard. Maybe a deload is due.

I think I will do this and then return with a bit lower weight to see how they go. At the moment they are fine till I pick up the weight and its game over for my entire workout.

I have never had problems with them from lifting, just falling off bikes, landing on them etc. Its been one thing to another lately.

Shoulders a while back, back and neck, elbows, shins, now wrists.

I am trying to take it easy and stuff is still packing up and im only 19.

Avoid any movements that hurt it for a while. Perhaps something like using dumbbells instead of barbells for increased freedom of movement can help? One of my clients has wrist issues. Using a neutral grip and DBs frequently seems to prevent any issues.

In the mean time, ice and rest the wrist in question.

I only tried barbells again for the first time on the weekend, before that it has been dumbbells.

Ice and rest is the answer I was kind of expecting. I will go back to dumbbells also.

Thanks everyone

Carpal Tunnel? Maybe you're pinching some nerve?

Ya i got this same pain from cable curls but instead of putting lots of weight i went light for a week or so, and the pain is gone now.

I just read some stuff on this. Sounds a bit like it. The pain does go up my forearm also.

I've had this pain before, I've heard it called stress fractures before, might even be what it is. I only get it when I go extremely heavy on BB curls and it takes weeks for them to go away. It hurts the most when I let the bar go, and it's actually sore to the touch from my wrist up my forearms. I never curl anything I can't handle for 8-12 reps anymore.
