Islam. The Religion of Peace

Ever heard of the Crusades, friendo? The buttom line is don't judge lest ye are ready to be judged.

religion was an excuse for them, not the reason for them, bud.

I can see that you're not a history major.

You can not justify this shit. You are unfit to be American. You are dense/retarded. If history repeats itself then good luck because it's happened on my end of it and the hell it wouldn't be shut down on your end again Ben Lawdin wannabe.

I'm not going to argue with anyone here over religion, because, arguing what someone believes is useless.

I will however point out the hilarity that ensues when a rep of one faith points a finger at another faith and says "they're bad!" and in the meanwhile you have a closet full of skeletons.

Jihad, Holocaust, the Spanish Inquisition, state sponsored aggression against religion in the former USSR, Christians VS Muslims in the Balcans, etc... Every religion, including religious atheism, is very far from peaceful. That was my original point to begin with.

I won't bother trying to argue about your historical perception of the crusades, let's just assume that the crusades were 100% Christian aggression.

Is something that happened hundreds of years ago an excuse for Dark Age behavior in the year 2008?

What makes you think that I want to fit in among the likes of you?

Just for the record, I gave 3 years of my life in service to Uncle Sam as an infantryman in the army. Oh...oh, oh,, and here's the best part.... I wasn't even born here!

So, I'll say what I want and you will not shut me up. Yep, that's right, I'm a nasty, outspoken, irreligious immigrant, and I give two shits about what you think.

well said.

Suffice to say the crusades were awful.

also, I cannot, with a clean conscience say "OH D00D IZLUM IS BADD!!!"

because I work in an area with a high population of its practitioners, and I have noted nothing but pleasant, polite behavior above and beyond that of most other patrons.

I would say that it is the fault of the culture in the middle east, but they find their justification for the violence in the tenets of their religion.

I would agree with you.

One reason I dont apply myself to any religion, in a traditional sense. I am not necessarily a protestant, etc. I believe in Jesus.

iMan,

Dude no reason to blow yourself up here. This is America. Say what you want if you earned it. Just don't freak if you get a dose of reality.

I'm taking a class on Buddhism right now, and it's the same thing even in Buddhism. Whenever there is organization/structure, there is a struggle for power. That's where the politics get mixed in and people start dying. It's all a bunch of shit to me, I despise it...

It is a shame that so much war and death comes from religion. I could not agree more, iMan. Therefore, I am deeply saddened by this woman's death over her cultures belief system.

Ever hear that the crusades ended in the 13th century?

The stuff that FishOrCutBait posted about the Muslims happened in the 21st century?

What do you call a campaign to bring "democracy" to the people who clearly don't want it?

It must be the 'crusaders' who are targeting and killing civilians there, not the islamic fanatics.

It must be the 'crusaders' strapping remote detonated bombs to the mentally handicapped there, not the islamic fanatics.

Sorry, I get confused sometimes.

This isn't an academic or political forum....take you facts and sound premises some where else

You think that the Gulf Wars were religious endeavors?! :roflmao:

You're defending a group of people that think strapping bombs to a retarded kid and him to blow-up in a mall is SOP.

You should go over there and join them.

Something very smartly written that I read on the Internet:

"Go read up on the ideology of [Muslims] a bit. Their "grievances" go back well before the liberation of Iraq or any actions of President Bush 2.0. In one of his statements immediately 9/11 attacks, Bin Laden talks about the sword reaching the US "after 80 years", referring to the breakup of the Ottomon Empire after WW1, at a time when the US was barely world power. Ayman al-Zawahiri (Al Qaeda's second-in-command, more or less) frames the Israeli/Palestinian dispute in terms of the "Al Andalus tragedy", the end of Moslem rule in southern Spain -- in 14-freaking-92. And while that's probably not a majority outlook, neither is it an isolated one. If Americans thought like this, the first thing we would have done upon perfecting the atomic bomb would have been to drop one on Buckingham Palace to get back at the British for burning the White House during the War of 1812. That's one basic problem: an inability to "get over it." Japan bombed Pearl Harbor, we A-bomb'ed them, yet sixty years later we're the closest of allies. Germany conquered France, now those two nations are the core of the EU. Yet in the Middle East they're still upset about the Crusades.

This isn't a problem that started with Bush, nor will it end once he's gone. It's a war that's been going on, at a lower level of intensity, for quite a while -- the recent phase having begun in 1979. 9/11 was merely the first time something happened where people couldn't ignore it, and the Middle East military operations under Bush just the first time the US has attempted (whether you agree with how he's conducted it or not) to actually do something about it. It's going to continue, whether we try to influence the outcome or not, and the US will be a target. We're just too big to be ignored, given how ubiquitous our worldwide economic and cultural presence is.

Nor is this an exclusively a US, or even Western, problem. Or do you maintain that it's Bush's fault that Moslems are killing Buddhists in Thailand, Hindus in India, and animists in Darfur, whilst threatening to murder British authors, Danish cartoonists, and Dutch parliamentarians, and succeed in murdering a Dutch film-maker?"

Ok, Mr.Evader. What is a religion of peace? Christianity? Hah! I'm not defending anybody, but of all the people in the world, the bible-thumping folks have the least rights to point a finger at anyone. And for fucks sake, aren't you too old to be throwing around remarks like the last line in your quote?

You only say that because you live in a country filled with those bible-thumpers. You have no fucking clue where Christians, in the modern day, fit in amongst the other religions. You have no clue what goes on around the world in the name of religion (or not).

In short, you're talking out of your ass.

And for fucks sake, aren't you too old to be throwing around remarks like the last line in your quote?

No, it makes perfect sense. If you had to go live around truly bad religious types, maybe you'd stop saying such dumb ass things.
