Right Here. No, HERE.
The topic of "bars" whether energy, protein, yada yada yada has been discussed many times....and I'm sure the Mods are rolling their eyes at this moment. But.....

Would it be acceptable to use a product like the Snickers Marathon Low Carb bar to fill in the gaps of a low carb (reduction) "diet"?

SNICKERS MARATHON Long-Lasting Nutritious Energy

I'm having a hard time keeping my daily caloric intake/total up, and this seems to be a helpful tool in a pinch....and better tasting than olive oil. They're also handy to have around for those unexpected late~night cravings....and while these are less frequent with an LC diet, I would still appreciate an emergency cheat with one of these vs. a diet killer like peanut butter, or God forbid.....Pop Tarts.:D

What's wrong with peanut butter? I eat peanut butter when cutting, and I eat low-carb.

Other options would be beef jerky or any type of raw nut.

A.) Sugar
B.) Its a Discipline buster.......I tend to eat the whole jar.:D

When I use the low carb approach, I tend to go after it as strictly as possible. (Pretty much like the induction phase of the Atkins diet) This means NO sugar...which is a pain, but possible. This might sound silly to some, but if I don't get my head into the game 100%, I will lose my mind after a couple of weeks.

Keep in mind what I do for a living....I handle things (foods) all day that could blow my efforts, I work crazy hours, and get tugged in all directions continuously by people who I don't have time to talk to. I have to make an extra effort to stay focused in order for this plan to work.

babbling.....oops.

I'm getting close to doing olive oil shooters again.:twitch:

1) There's no sugar in my peanut butter
2) Trigger foods - gotcha. :)

I have a seriously picky eight year old. Natty peanut butter would put him into a catatonic state.:D So I have to fight the JIF Devil.

Part of the reason I posted the question (guess I should have said it earlier) was that I was curious if the marathon bars would also act as triggers. They are low in "net" carbs (I still don't trust this "net" thing for some reason) and they are very low in sugar (1gram), but I was worried this would be like an alcoholic drinking an O'Doul's, y'know? Gateway food maybe?:D

Stay away from that bar. Just look at the ingredients :barf:

They both are. And those bars were a LONG time ago and only in a pinch.

I don't have trigger foods so I can't answer what YOURS are.

Re bars: forget it. They suck. Eat raw nuts.

God I have such a dirty mind.

And now you do too.

Nah, I thought it.... I just didn't know how to respond.

Then again, this wouldn't be the first time a woman with abs better than mine told me to go eat raw nuts.

I'm surprised Jodi didn't beat her to the punch.:D

PS I thought it while I was typing it. :D

Raw Almonds are the only ones I like. The rest taste gross to me and only get them roasted :p

I agree. Although I've been going with roasted almonds.

For the record, DaMayor does not eat raw nuts.:finger::D

I'm going with the olive oil shot....quick cals, good fat....completely heterosexual. Not that there's anything wrong with people who prefer their vice versa.

Roasting damages the PUFAs. Go ahead and eat 'em roasted, but don't think you're doing anything for your health - this is cheat food.

I did not know that. I've only been eating oven-roasted almonds for nuts. Do you have a source?
