Nov. 5 (Bloomberg) -- Asian stocks gained as Barack Obama's presidential victory sparked optimism his spending plans will help the economy recover from the credit crisis. The dollar rose and treasuries declined.

Toyota Motor Corp., which gets the biggest portion of its sales from North America, added 10 percent. Obama has urged Congress to pass a $175 billion economic stimulus bill immediately after the election. BHP Billiton Ltd. led commodity shares higher after oil soared 10 percent yesterday. Mizuho Financial Group Inc. surged 16 percent as money market rates fell, indicating credit markets are thawing out.

Obama ``will attempt to change the way the U.S. does business and how it conducts itself with the rest of the world,'' said Raymond Tang, who oversees $5.8 billion as chief investment officer at CIMB-Principal Asset Management Bhd., a unit Malaysia's second-biggest bank. ``It's a whole new world and a new fantastic point of view.'' He's buying some ``blue chips,'' he said, declining to be more specific.

The MSCI Asia Pacific Index gained 4.8 percent to 94.52 as of 7:38 p.m. in Tokyo, paring its slump this year to 40 percent. All 10 of the measure's industry groups rose. Japan's Nikkei 225 Stock Average climbed 4.5 percent to 9,521.24.

as a stalwart for a cause I love him. sometimes his presentation makes me cringe a little when I think he may be driving people away not with his reasoning, but his presentation
 
I plan on giving him a chance. I'm scared to death of him and strongly feel the country made the wrong choice, but there's nothing I can do. I can sit & bitch but he's still the President for at least 4 years. All that's left is to hope he shocks me & doesn't govern from the far left like he did as my senator.

If someone in this thread would throw out any argument of how his policies will help us, I might not agree with it, but I'd surely respect them voting based on an educated decision.

Ironaddict was claiming that people who make under 250k won't see a tax increase. Obama has already gone back on that statement. Not based on fox news, it came out of his own mouth in the video I posted. It was all over the TV. One would have to completely ignore the election to have not known he had lowered the 250k limit several times.

Why not say something along these lines...

"If a small business is bringing in let's say 600k a year, and they need to hire 2 employees to maintain that business, they're going to hire those people regardless of the tax increase Obama has planned. Giving a tax break to a small business who is bringing in over a half million dollars a year isn't going to guarantee they hire employees. If they truly need a certain employee, a small tax increase isn't going to stop them from hiring that person. Giving a tax break to said business would probably result in the owner pocketing that savings."

That's a reasonable argument for that particular situation. I would completely agree with that as a sound argument-even though I may not agree with the philosophy.

But you don't hear that. What you hear is "time for a change", "yes we can", "I voted for the first black guy".

Spoken like someone who's either dodging the issue or has no idea what they're talking about.

The majority of people who use welfare are lower class people. Who, in my my experience, are fucking lazy.

I don't mean lazy in the sense that they won't go do some labor intensive job all day long. I mean that, when they lose their job, the don't go looking for a job too quickly if they can get a hand out. I also mean lazy in the sense that they don't try to improve their station.

They already abuse the system as it is. There's no need to up it to socialistic levels.

As for giving every child health care, I'm all for that. But not until our borders are sealed off and the chewies kicked out. Which is something that Barrack "I sold out for the Mexican vote" Obama won't do. If we implement it now, it's just going to be a financial drain and give even more incentive for the chewies to flood into this country.
 
While we are at it, I think everyone deserves a house, a hot wife & a million dollars in the bank.

Obama won't be doing many of his plans soon.

There is no money. Period.

Also, the POTUS does not have the much control of the US economy.

2009 will be a very rough year for many Americans.

How rough will it get? We'll have to wait and see.

And there is not much the President can do about it.
