Would it be fair to say a lose of 2kg or 4.4LB LBM in 1 week be a Hydration issue not an genuine lose of LBM?
I have been following the Burn the Fat feed the muscle programm for a while now and have had great results, so who ever put me on to it thank you.

I have 4 KG of fat to lose and i will be at 18% BF which is better than 33% where I started, my goal is 12-15%.

I have managed to maintain my LBM but someweeks there is a fluxuation of 2KG and i assume it has something to do with Hydration (i am no expert) because the next week the LBM seems to be back up the 2kg it was lacking the week before.
Even with the lack of upper body exercise due to a dislocated shoulder I have maintained the LBM.

I thank all who have given me advice and I have been cleared after 3 weeks from date of injury to start mild arm work then Chest again.

You are using an impedance device. Stop that.

The way you're "testing" your lean mass, you're using a BIA scale, right? Like a Tanita?

It basically measures the resistance through your body of a low electrical current, and compares this with the resistance of water through a formula that incorporates your height, weight and age.

Drop water, you look flat and dry. Tanita says you're fat.

Carb up, eat a ton of salt, you look like a waterlogged pig. Tanita says you're ripped to shreds.

Assume you do everything right, and assume you will lose no LBM. You lose weight, assume it's fat.

The way you're doing it will drive you crazy.

No it is from Skinfold testing I have done every Wednesday Morning.
I am now 21.5%BF.
Week 1 was 78.98kg / 173.75 LB - LBM
Week 2 was 76.70kg / 168.74 LB - LBM
Week 3 was 78.70kg / 173.14 LB - LBM
Week 4 was 77.75kg / 171.05 LB - LBM

That is why I asked about Hydration difference

Weight
Week 1 106.3 KG / 233.86 LB
Week 2 101.6 KG / 223.52 LB
Week 3 101.3 KG / 222.86 LB
Week 4 99.3 KG / 218.46 LB

Any explanation for this kind of Variance

Skinfold. Even worse.

Seriously, stop testing. It's measurement error. Skinfolds don't measure bodyfat percentage. They ESTIMATE it, based on the skill of the tester and a mathematical formula that fits population averages, not individuals.

Here. Assume you have 170 lbs lean mass and be done with it. Assume your bodyfat percentage is (current weight - 170)/current weight.

Plan to lose enough to get you down to your target bodyfat percentage, and re-evalulate when you get there.

How about hydro weighing?

He's doing it weekly, nkira. There's really no need.

Well I think I will go back to just reading the Posts, and not commenting anymore, I am following the BFFM Book and it says to do the skinfold tests to monitor my progress, but I think I will just shut up and do my own thing from now on, I can see the results and it is working along the lines the book says so thanks for confusing everything I have asked, Ohh well I should have known better than to think I would get some kind of support, instead i am constantly being told I am doing this wrong or that wrong, I am just trying to lose body fat, I have no desire to be a body builder, I am just truing to better my health and well being...................................

Ah. You think we're here to be cheerleaders.

Newsflash - sometimes "support" means being told what you're fucking up so you can fix it.

If that wasn't what you wanted, why ask for help?

Sorry Im just frustrated at all the conflicting info, some say I am doing ok and some say other wise.
I mean no disrespect, i just want to do all things properly and correctly, so thanks for your input, I do appreciate it.
I will just work hard and wait to see the results.
NO MORE TESTING just back to basics
Thanks Built. I mean that

Ah, no worries. There's lots of conflicting information out there; it's frustrating trying to separate the wheat from the chaff.

If you look good in the mirror, you feel good and you're making progress, leave things alone.

When you start to stall out, you post up exactly what you're doing and ask for critique - and expect to get it, okay? We're all here to help each other navigate through the BS.

Peace. :)

I can tell you this, if Built is telling you something there's not many better around here to listen to. End.

She's trying to keep you from eventually wasting time and energy in a misguided "do what average people do" kinda industry.

Yep, i am a built fan :)
I do realize the help I am getting as You all probably have already been where I am, Good on you all you are all helpfull.
I will be in touch

Congratulations on the results you are seeing so far.
I know you are trying to measure weekly, but for a somewhat definitive measure of your current body fat check out Qscan Radiology Clinics and see if they do a DEXA scan - they are located throughout Brisbane (i think they have 8 or so clinics in brizzie).

Ive never used them before im in Perth. Then book yourself in for another scan in 3-6 months time and check on your progress. Your plan may tell you to monitor your bodyfat weekly, but in the grand scheme of things (other than a motivation tool) this isnt going to change the effectiveness of the diet.
If the diet works and you are losing your weight (i know you may want to know whether its lbm or fat you are losing, or what quantities of both) stick to it.

Do as Built suggested - assume you are Xkgs LBM at bodyfat of Z%. Or if you go ahead with the DEXA scan, you will know exactly what bodyfat you are. Then plan to lose Ykgs over the next 3 months, go in for another scan and check in on your bodyfat %.

It's really the only way to know. I've had three DEXAs done over the last few years, and I'll get one done end of cut this summer to see how I've done.

Anything else is just an exercise in futility.
