I am up to doing lat pull downs at 225lbs for 6-8 reps. I am trying to get to doing pull ups with my bodyweight for reps. I am currently 260lbs. Back in the day when I would powerlift we would load up bars for bench heavier then we could do and just hold it for a count of 10 to get used to the weight etc..and it seemed to help. My question is any logic to think I would benefit from putting say 300lbs on the pull down machine and sitting down with it and hold it there for a count? Would this make me stronger faster?
