Hey guys, I am an avid lifter and I have to spend 6 weeks in the field doing geology work in a couple months. I will not have access to a weight room for 6 whole weeks and I am wondering if there is a way to maintain my size. :geewhiz: Anywho, what do you guys think would work best? I am guessing I will be buying resistance bands and doing a shit ton of pushups, situps, "rock jumps" etc... hahaha. This will be very different from how I usually train. I am just paranoid that I am going to lose a large amount of weight over this 6 week period :mooh:!!! Any suggestions would be great!

Your going to lose some size most likely but 6 weeks is not gonna make that much of a difference especially if you go hard on BW lifts it might be a good change and build up more endurance strength. My buddy had to do 3 months at county(by choice over paying fines and other BS, cuz he's a sik bast*rd) and doing push up's dips and squats he gained alot of endurance strength and cut some bodyfat... I would recommend push ups pull ups squats (2 and 1 leg) Handstand presses lunges, the hardest thing to do is a pulling exercise unless you have access to pull up bar. Fluctuate your volume up so your doing the most volume at 4th week then ramp it down for the final two weeks....Also sprint work is great especially if there are hills. F*uck the resistance bands IMO

In addition to the above^^

You may want to train hard (almost to the point of over-training) in the gym the week before you take off for the field. Then take a week off, especially if you haven't in a while. Your body will love the rest. Then do what you can for the next five weeks. Honestly, it won't be that big of a deal. It is a relatively short period of time.

Get a tough backpack with a handle on top. When you want to work out, fill it up to your desired weight. You can then use your backpack in the same manner as a Kettlebell. When you are done working out, you can store your belongings in the pack. You can do all kinds of exercises to help maintain your strength. Get a Kettlebell guide and you can get some ideas from there. My co-workers and I have done this numerous times while working overseas and there is no access to a gym. Get creative and think outside the box. You can still get a workout, just look at all of the heavy things around you and try to incorporate those into your routine. I'm sure you'll have some heavy rocks around you since you are doing geology work. And hit the body weight exercises, push-ups, pull-ups ect......

Keep your eating as good as possible, this will be the main reason you lose weight - a sudden drop in calories. As for training, just do what you can.

If you have the time/money you can buy a set of decent lifting bands from EliteFTS and take those for added resistance - they're small, can fit in anything you can put a folded shirt or something, and go pretty heavy.

Wrap them around your shoulders and under your feet for squats, put them around your torso and lie on the floor for floor press, im sure you can rig something up for most any exercise. Be creative.
