[FONT=arial, helvetica]"When the government puts its imprimatur on a particular religion it conveys a message of exclusion to all those who do not adhere to the favored beliefs. A government cannot be premised on the belief that all persons are created equal when it asserts that God prefers some."

He's been contorting himself to hide his muslim faith in the USA, yet he can't do the same when dealing in foreign policy with the muslim world. What is going to look like a foreign policy blunder to the west will actually be a success when Egypt is the next mideastern country to be lost to a fanatical regime.

President Obama Invited Muslim Brotherhood; What About Coptic Christians? - Yahoo! News

if you want to be technical there are over 200 religions practiced in the world today, Judeo-Christianity and Islam are the top 2.

Oh shit! Not everybody was invited to the party!

It's also kind of suspect when you see thousands of Egyptians protesting in the streets with 95%+ of the protest signs written in English. Makes you wonder who's behind all of it. Just sayin.

i have friends back there in the protests, the reason of signs in English is to get public's interest and support from overseas, if those were all in Arabic you guys will have no idea what they are fighting for is it freedom or some other thing...

I'll tell you what's going to happen.

1. political lip service and posturing
2. The Brotherhood makes a move
3. A military leader forms a third party
4. Before the brotherhood announces a candidate CIA operations kill his ass
5. The Military dude is a moderate Muslim
6. He runs and wins election
7. He runs the blade of keeping Egyptians and Western Nations happy
8. US hands off cash in regular installments
9. The status quo continues.
10. Egyptians take up the game simple Simon as a national sport.

And they go back to having a pharaoh.

Yup, it's amazing the amount of people that believe in fairytales and don't bother checking their facts. Some people couldn't be religious if they tried.

Werd on the Pharaoh. They accomplished moar 5,000 years ago than they have in the last 1500 years since Muhammad spread his sick cult thru the region. They haven't had good leadership since Narmer.

well said!

its their boston tea party, now lets hope the secularist win and not the religious nut bags

However, Muslim govt's can be bought and bargained with, see Saudi Arabia among others. Fresh Democratic govt's may not tend to be very friendly to the US empire program and Israel in that neck of the woods. But, like I said, it's their boston tea party, we had ours, now they are having theirs. Perhaps we will see a secular middle eastern state like Turkey arise from these ashes, just hope the military coup does not become permanent.

Wow. You hope the "religious nuts bags" don't win?

The party fighting to oust Mubarak is a hard line, sharia law, using bunch of Muslims. They are the religious nut bags.

Personally, I think the military should have pulled a Tienanmen Square on them. They're probably going to look like a Sunni Iran now. Imagine what it'll be like if there's a domino effect in the ME with radical regimes popping up in Egypt, Yemen, Jordan, Syria, and others. The time to start drilling for oil domestically and updating our nuclear arsenal is now, not afterward.

not according to stratfor and i trust them, the majority of the protestors and a majority of the egyptians are actually quite secular. what we need to worry about is the military coup entrenching themselves and siding with the muslim brotherhood....

every egyptian doctor I know are borderline athiests like myself, but that is only my experience here at Emory.

updating our nuclear arsenal or strategically depleting our nuclear arsenal one at a time? think about it......:shooter:

good summary, puts the "resignation" in the context that the military pretty much got what they wanted by coopting the protestors, very interesting. Now the trick is maybe the military coup will result in what it did in algeria , got rid of the fundamentalists, sans civil war....of course, algeria is not an egypt..

such as just about every government in the middle east since the fall of the Ottoman Empire. they have all been puppets of the West (UK, France, USA, etc.)

I don't like Islam nor the Muslim Brotherhood (see their wikipedia info to see their beliefs), but they are an element in Egypt and have existed since 1928.

I don't like them - BUT - It's Egypt.

I don't like any President endorsing, supporting, or criticizing foreign political groups.

And yes, 10% of the Egyptian population is Coptic Christian and hopefully they'll get a seat at the table.

Hopefully, the next Pharaoh will be secular. Maybe Akhenaten has a great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great grandson who could take over the reins. That cat was bad ass.

He really knew how to treat his people. they really knew what towing the line was...that is where that came from:thinking:
