will it be the same? If not is it that much of a difference? (Only fruit in house)

I did peel it like an orange and thought it was very bitter but forced myself to swallow it. Thanks for your advice though.

Try grapefruit juice, it's alot more fun

Put some sugar on it to sweeten it a bit. Don't bury it but put a little on it to cut the tartness.

This seems like a bigger deal than it needs to be....

How Chewing Affects Nutrition

If you’re digesting your food better, does that mean that you get more nutrition from it? Yes! Longer chewing has been shown to increase the amount of protein your body can absorb from foods and put to use building muscle. It also makes some vitamins and minerals more available for absorption—especially from uncooked fruits and vegetables. (Cooking foods has some of the same nutrient-releasing effects as thorough chewing.) Chewing also increases the amount of fat that is absorbed from foods that contain both fat and fiber, such as nuts.

None of this applies to grapefruit. Unless you tend to cook your grapefruit.

Why doesn't it apply to grapefruit? The article says uncooked fruits and veggetables it applies to most.:hmmm:

The whole discussion seems like overkill. You don't really chew grapfruit - for the most part it is broken up more going down your throat than needing to be chewed like an apple or a harder fruit that requires some grinding to get it down your throat w/o choking.

Why don't you just not eat grapefruit if you don't like it?

Grapes are my favorite fruit... I just love grapes...! Their juice is also really good and they taste really sweet...!

don't eat it then? that or buy another fruit? or eat something else?
