VW's aren't like they used to be, plus like all imports expensive to fix. I had a couple of rabbit gti's and a corrado back in the day (mid 90's and earlier) and never really had much problems with any of them.

VW's aren't like they used to be, plus like all imports expensive to fix. I had a couple of rabbit gti's and a corrado back in the day (mid 90's and earlier) and never really had much problems with any of them.
1. Buy american and support your fucking country
2. You have a long commute? Buy new for the reliabilty
3. Chevy and Ford have cars that average 40mpg, this means you cut down on gas which in turn helps pay for the car

my main problem with american cars are the shitty interiors, which is what you look at when driving it for years and thousands of miles. how fucking hard is it to make a decent interior! WTF?
Go for the Sonata, and get it 1 year used. You'll save a ton of the money, and they come with a 10-year warranty anyway I believe, so it's all good. Put the money in some investments or for your kids' college.
Or go hybrid, the gas savings are nice, and we all know which direction the prices for gas are going! Remember how much you're driving here.

if your going new get a hyundia. Honestly im a car guy so i like power and speed and horsepower number. so im about to buy an evo 8 or 9/ But if i was to buy a brand new car it would be a hyundia for shure. great mpg, the prices are good they offer luxury and shit and the warrenty is fantasticYou're on point with the turbo Sonata. Hyundai is killing Toyota and Honda in sales because they have sharp looking cars with class leading fuel economy and an outstanding warranty. Not to mention they are priced right.
I considered and test drove the turbo Sonata and was very impressed between the power and all the toys including NAV that you can get for well under $30K. I ended up getting a new Infiniti G37S sedan, but that's a totally different class of car with a totally different price point.

There aren't many of the 1 year old turbos around. They just started making them in 2011. I saw one that a dealer drove. It had 14,500 miles on it. they wouldn't take a penny less then 24K. plus taxes. so for a couple grand more I can get a brand new one.
There were 1,000,000 Hyundais assembled this year in Alabama.

I understand that, and believe me when I say I am grateful that those jobs are in our country but we need to build cars here and keep the money in OUR COUNTRY. its a 2 for one deal

My work commute is 160 miles round trip. I'm 6'1" tall and weight 250 pounds. I've got a 2010 Jetta Sportswagon TDI. I absolutely LOVE this car. No problem whatsoever with interior room. I get 40 MPG @ 80 MPH with the a/c blowing full blast in the Nevada summer. In 59K miles I've had one problem, the light on the passenger visor mirror didn't work. Drove my wife nuts. Replaced at 10K service. (First three are free.)

thats funny because a lot of jap cars are made here in America. also chevy sold more cars in Asia last year then America. so who cars about this buy American shit. im all for America but i will buy Japanese until America can do something worth a shit. i would much rather pay 20k for a car that will last for ever cost me nothing to maintain and insure and get great gas mileage then a big piece of shit

so what are you thinking about getting? you want power everything, leather and turbo. I can't think of a us manufacturer that makes a turbo that isn't on a truck, etc.

My wife bought me a ford focus about 3 years ago. Didnt care for the idea at first,(Im a truck guy) but since it was easier to put the kids in and out of I started using it. I am in no way nice to it I drive it like one of our trucks and 3 years later and 130000 miles later it runs great no major repairs. I am a fair size guy and it has ample room and gets close to 40 mpg.
where in the hell are you driving? 40K+ miles a year is a whole lot of driving.
I own a 2003 Infiniti G35 and a 2004 CLK55 AMG. The G35 is the best car I've ever owned. The CLK has been fun, but 5K of maintainence every year and of course the gas mileage isn't good; it's the worst car I've ever owned. You can get a 3-4 year old G35 with low miles for under 25K (there are some on ebay for under 20K). You'll have a car that drives increadible, 0-60 in 6.2 sec and suspension to match. The gas will not be amazing, but the money you save buying used will offset. I drive 100MPH in the mountains all the time for hours on end, you hardly know you're going that fast...very very smooth...
