The US supplied 2% of iraq's arms. Russia, France, Germany, and China were the top 4 supplies.
Saddam had his own T72 tank factory and Russian advisers until the day of our first invasion.
2% of what? What does that even mean? 2% of their total arms including everything from chemical and biological weapons to service rifles?
I don't know how much of their total munitions came from us or was paid for by us. I know that Many other countries gave Saddam money and weapons during the 80s. France, Australia, Italy, and England all gave Saddam supplies and assisted him with his nuclear and biological weapons programs.
Basically, all of the worlds big hitters helped Iraq to fight Iran, you know, because nobody likes Iran very much. If Saddam wouldn't have attacked Kuwait, he would still be one of buddies. Funny how that works, isn't it? He was a good guy until he attacks an oil rich ally.
Before the invasion of Kuwait:
"Oh whats that, you want to take on Iran, sweet! They suck anyways, here you go, here is some plutonium and chemical weapons to use on them. We got this anthrax and smallpox laying around, you want to use that on them too? Can we help you advance your nuclear program, here are some nuclear materials and blueprints for getting your weapons programs going."
Iraq attacks Kuwait:
"We can't have this. Iraq is an evil country, and Saddam is the most evil man alive. He used chemical weapons! Chemical weapons! That's against Geneva Protocol. That is a crime against humanity! We have to stop him!"
It's fucking laughable. Anybody who can't see this, isn't fucking paying attention.
