charleston-sc/zimmerman-was-on-the-ground-being-punched-when-he-shot-trayvon-martin

This is an absurd article. Facts are all wrong. Clearly this writer is the one pushing an agenda. I have heard the 911 tapes, and it is clearly the voice of a child crying for help. Never did Martin's father say it wasn't his son's voice. And the original 911 call Zimmerman made about Martin was the confused mumblings of a truly socially inept adult...not to mention the fact that he calls Martin a "coon" to the operator.
In addition, the witnesses have NOT said that Zimmerman was being punched. Witnesses have said that the person on top in the struggle was wearing a white t-shirt. Martin was wearing a black hoodie. And the witnesses are white...so much for your silly implications about black people lying for other black people.
One more thing. Sure, Martin was 6'2''. But he was 140lbs. Does that sound like a hulking football player to you? Sounds more like a beanpole. Regardless, Zimmerman outweighed him by 100lbs. THOSE are the facts.
This is irresponsible journalism. In fact, I wouldn't call it journalism at all.

Withoutrules- to me, even if the young man was having his way with Zimmerman, Zimmerman clearly instigated, and purposely put himself in danger. It's inexcusable. I am a huge advocate of gun rights, I have several and a permit to carry concealed. If I was concerned that the young man was a threat I certainly wouldn't have been chasing him, or left my vehicle, or confronted him. That's why we have police officers.

A gun is there to protect me if there is an immediate, lethal threat that I cannot remove myself from. I would never go looking for trouble, find it, and then claim self defense. It's ridiculous.

I think the grass stains on Zimmerman's back could of came from when he fell while chasing after Trayvon. Then in a fat, frustrated fluster, he vented an adipose fueled rage that only gun shots could extinguish.

This. Zimmerman has no defense, imo. Unfortunately, my opinion will not help. This will come down to the lawyers... as it always does. :(

Witness: Martin attacked Zimmerman

ORLANDO - A witness we haven't heard from before paints a much different picture than we've seen so far of what happened the night 17-year-old Trayvon Martin was shot and killed.

The night of that shooting, police say there was a witness who saw it all.

Our sister station, FOX 35 in Orlando, has spoken to that witness.

What Sanford Police investigators have in the folder, they put together on the killing of Trayvon Martin few know about.

The file now sits in the hands of the state attorney. Now that file is just weeks away from being opened to a grand jury.

It shows more now about why police believed that night that George Zimmerman shouldn't have gone to jail.
Zimmerman called 911 and told dispatchers he was following a teen. The dispatcher told Zimmerman not to.

And from that moment to the shooting, details are few.

But one man's testimony could be key for the police.

"The guy on the bottom who had a red sweater on was yelling to me: 'help, help…and I told him to stop and I was calling 911," he said.

Trayvon Martin was in a hoodie; Zimmerman was in red.

The witness only wanted to be identified as "John," and didn't not want to be shown on camera.

His statements to police were instrumental, because police backed up Zimmerman's claims, saying those screams on the 911 call are those of Zimmerman.

"When I got upstairs and looked down, the guy who was on top beating up the other guy, was the one laying in the grass, and I believe he was dead at that point," John said.

Zimmerman says the shooting was self defense. According to information released on the Sanford city website, Zimmerman said he was going back to his SUV when he was attacked by the teen.

Sanford police say Zimmerman was bloody in his face and head, and the back of his shirt was wet and had grass stains, indicating a struggle took place before the shooting.

From Witness: Martin attacked Zimmerman

Seems that the chiild, Trayvon Martin, could have cried self defense considering the adult, Zimmerman, was following him.

Damn i hate modedrn day america...hard to get killed in a reg old fistfight....pussies and there guns

cowards disguised as men

But, again, there's the thing. Why was Zimmerman out of his vehicle? Hadn't the actual police told the man to break off his surveillance? Hadn't they directed him to stop following the youth? I'd like those questions answered because it definitely sounds as if Zimmerman instigated the events.

To pull the trigger over some grass stains? No.

You can't be in pursuit and acting in self defense at the same time.

That's just the thing, people love to level the playing field but there's never anything level.

A co-worker's nephew was shot to death a few years back. The young man was at a local club, was involved in a fight he hadn't started, whooped the jerk and called it done.

The weasel, instead of taking the beating for his own smart mouth, went for a gun, came back, and shot the man's nephew.

Just like you say, cowards disguised as men.

There is no shame in getting your ass kicked....if you fight eventually someone will beat you

gun is not payback...you still lost
