Legal Help Needed: Construction bossman won't pay his workers

I started a construction job when I first relocated to Nashville a few weeks ago. We framed an expansion onto one of the TV stations in town. The problem is the bossman walked off the job, didn't tell us, and is now avoiding the workers. He owes us a lot of money and most of us really need that money.

Can we go over our bosses head and demand that the general contractor pay us? Can we make a request to the News station to not pay the guy for the work, and to pay us (the workers) the money instead?

I would rather just get paid instead of dragging this shit into court. I don;t have the money to fight for the money that is owed to me.

That sucks ass, royally. See what happens when you get rid of unions, they wanna treat Americans as if they're the illegals, and the lack of funds to force a fight is what they're banking on. This game doesn't change.

that's a nightmare in a cash strapped economy like today. don't know much about those kinds of work laws but I would definitely put him in blast and do the media thing, just about all they are good for these days. you guys might want to make some sworn affidavits so there is an official record of this event.

Sounds shady on the bossman's part...he himself could be strapped and waiting on a draw, or payment from the general and not being straight up with you guys. How far along is the job , the general want/needs this thing completed and I have
seen cases where the general was paying the guys directly. I'd been in the general's trailer asking what's his contact been with the boss? Is your boss been fully paided ? Is he aware your boss is not on site?
