Sterile injection practices are a must!

So my friend just pulled 8ml of mostly blood out of his left glute, after pulling out 7ml of blood and puss yesterday. That was from a 3ml injection about 5-7 days ago.

All I have to say is holy shit. Alcohol swabs are cheap, use a ton of them, make sure you are sterile before you pin, fucking shower up. Once you see a 10ml syringe hit the spot, it will fill up as fast as you can pull the plunger. Stuff looks horrid, and it was just chilling inside of him.

He said he used alcohol swabs. But I figured he became a bit lax with it.

Just a little reminder to always follow sterile injection practices.

not that unsterile injections dont cause issues..but if the gear is unsafe then all the tissue and wipes in the world wont help that...

not that unsterile injections dont cause issues..but if the gear is unsafe then all the tissue and wipes in the world wont help that...

True,, But he was halfway through a 20ml vial. Another guy is running from the same brew with no problems. And he pinned the same gear on Friday with no problems.

I'm thinking he might of swabbed the vial but then forgot to swab himself, as Ive almost done that before.

tell him not to lay the drawing pin or use pin down with the top off...even if the syringe is empty..very easy to pick up a small hair from shaving on the pin without knowing..small hairs cause big problems allot of times..

So true- I open the syringe package and make a "boat" out of it. Then only put covered pins in the "boat". Nothing should touch anything but the packaging. IMHO .

No doctor, he said he is feeling much better today though, almost no pain at all, which is down from not being able it sit or stand comfortably. lol

I did give him a walk through of what I do/ sterile practices without trying to be patronizing. He seemed to listen, but I guess only time will tell. I believe it gave him a good scare, so hopefully he wont be in this mess again.

Exactly what I was thinking. Infections are due much more frequently to dirty gear than not sterilizing the injection site.

I should not be saying this on the open boards, as it does not set a good example and goes against what I have preached, but I have NEVER used alcohol on an injection site in my entire life...not even once. In fact, I have never even cleand the area. I have never had a single problem. Of course, none of my injection sites are ever exposed to the outside, but are always covered with clothes...which significantly cuts down on the possibility of getting anything on my skin which could cause an infection. Now, I would not inject into an area which was obviously dirty, but if I have taken a shower and/or the area has been covered since the previous shower, the chances of getting bacteria into the body capable of causing a serious infection are very low.

Dirty gear presents a far greater cause for concern.

Holy shit Mike ! You are so lucky you never got Cellulitis, a skin infection . I'm unlucky, had it twice with wipes ?

I also should note that I think its of critical importance to shot is a clean enviroment to. I always shoot in the bathroom and I clean it top to bottom twice a week. on a side women love clean bathrooms. just sayin

That's a damned good idea. Gonna try it. I keep my bathroom surfaces as frequently clean as I can but... it's a losing game really, given the bacterial sources it's exposed to.

Damn...I forgot about that. I did get that before from dirty gear...got it 4 times from 4 different vials of the same gear (all Dihydroboldenone from the same manufacturer). This was 6 years ago and the only problem I ever had. I have never had an infection, but the cellulitis was from bad gear...not unsanitary injection habits.
