    Damn, I'm the odd man out here. I usually eat a small to medium sized meal 30 minutes before I lift, then a whey drink right before. Sometimes I skip the drink and just eat before. If I don't, I get hungry while lifting, which totally sucks.

You've seen what you *thought* was that happening, but you don't have conclusive evidence one way or another, no matter how many people you've observed or how many years...
