There are pics under my profile in my photo album. I found umerous YouTube videos with issues being shown. I didn't count how many. Then add 7 plus pages on search function about complaints of SF mags that I have done so its not a one time thing. You can find just as many positive things too. But how may guys are really 14 year old kids posting about what there dad has that's never been used. A lot. How many are safe queens or guys that shoot 20-30 rounds a year but on the net talking line they are frgin experts. Answer is a lot. My buddy is one of em and I've seen others busted too. I am sure some of negative posts are from peope looking to stir the pot too. (Hell I could be one of those too) There are so many newbs posting shit about AR's and acessories that had long been proven as incorrect bad info is geting told as fact again. I've personally seen a lot of Ar that have went boom not bang. The issue were 223 chambers and hot 5.56 ammo. Those barreles and guns were all stamped 5.56 too. It was so prevelant that training classes in our are region required that the chamber be measured with the gage(not for checking if its 233 or 5.56) by the instructors before they'd let anyone run the course. The guy who created the concept of the tactical carbine course had pictures of not one but several AR's that blew up during their course by major manufactures and companies with DOD contracts. Not just once either. He was one of first to figure out wait was going on. Whole articles have been written about it. Some guy is blaming an over powdered load for his 15 year old barrel (that's when it was really bad too) and I told them before you slam the ammo have you measured the chamber? No, asswipe I don't need to the barrel is marked 5.56. I quit counting at ten other guys said all that matters is what the barrel and or rifle is stamped the manufacture would ever be wrong! Right there told me none of guys had any lengt of time behind Ar's or they would known about it and all the warnings certain ammo manufactures out out since they were getting the blame web their ammo was within specs. Lots of people spearing bad info on the net that have no real world experience. Its read it all and take with a grain is salt.
I thought about carrying one and I found enough info to make me say no way. (I dont even want to discss what I have wasted on over hyped gear before I wised up)
If I was using the SF mag for purpose I inteended it meant I was in some serious shit. When I went digging for the pic since I didn't save it I found a lot of guys still having issues with newer generations too. I hadn't filled te development since I decided against so I had no real clue how they progress had went other then the recent pics.
I've fired thousands of rounds through my mags from full auto to semi without issue. I just now had my 1st mag issue from a practice mag. That was my first ever issued to me mag. A 20 round mag that's seen service in the military since Vietnam. It should have been destroyed not kept in service because the whole lot was suposed to be bad and marked for destruction. But low n behold it stayed in service and was issued over m over until the 80's when I got it. It made it till 2012 before the spring gave out. To me that's very impressive.
From what I've read about SF mags no way in hell would I ever expect thst type of life span or reliability . I like the concept and I bet they get it right.(plenty of articles written by guys go were tasked with torture testing them for an agency who reported back they didn't hold up) Maybe its just a certain percentage of out of spec mags that's the issue. That is going to happen with any thing thats manufactured. I don't have the answers to it all.
Fun to use, I'm sure. Hell, I even stopped using the two mags coupled togther to keep weight on my rifle down. That weight gets old after a while. When they allowed to still train after my iniury It was all about weight reduction any way I could. I was doing my best to hide how hurt I was. Depending on movement (prone n moving prone) the 30's could be a pita.
All I wanted to do was put that info I had out there. They got big names endorsing SF mags too and I know there's people who make that argument for em . We all know better. They get paid and or free gear to do that. I've personally seen how that works. So that's another with a grain of salt. If someone says SF mags are the best mags ever and all they will own good for them.
D&H mags were under $13.00 recently and Pmags can be found for those price ranges at numerous places. Last time I checked for someone I was shocked to see some of sale prices at places like big box stores too. I have accounts where I get hooked up with pricing so buddies are always asking me to check on mags or parts since they are too lazy to
get there own. I Just saw x39 under $300 for a full case too. ( fingers crossed it keeps up)
