"No one has soldier like the ones we do in Syria."

That's not true. Iran and many other countries have poorly trained, poorly supplied, troops.

"Hezbollah defeated Israel."

I have to say that I'm impressed. I wasn't aware that Syria was that open of a society. It's the only country that I know of that allows 11 year-olds to smoke crack.

I can relate to this child on the perils of invasion by foreigners when I was his age. I'd be playing Starcraft as the Protoss and I was always worried who was going to invade me first for my vespene gas and minerals, the Zerg or the Terran. Those were stressful times.

The funniest part of this entire scenario is the public relations of Syria must ride around on a short bus. How in the hell is it the Director of Communications for the country of Syria thought it would be a good idea to use the FB page of the Presidents son as an effective tool for communicating to the world?

The kid needs to study his not to recent history. Last time we went into a country we hung the president and shot his two sons. We may be the aggressors, but we are damn effective at it.

kinda disgusted at the war mentality of my country. we are so mad you harmed your own citizens we're going to kill a few thousand more of them. just fucking brilliant. if obama does something he can't pull off without killing any more little kids he should be tried on war crimes. enough killing.

if you want to hurt obama start compiling a photo record of children killed by drones etc. love them or hate them i don't imagine the feeling of loss is much diff than what ours would be.

if murderer is a race then i guess you're right.

Not to say that we haven't killed children, we have, but the united states doesn't target children. Never before in the history of the world has a country been so effective at limiting collateral damage. In WW2 we leveled entire cities. month long bombing campaigns designed to kill indiscriminately and break a country. We fire bombed civilians.

It's funny to me that standards have changed so much in less than 1 lifetime. Just a few generations later it's different. Syria is a country is using chemical weapons against it's civilian populace. In our own Revolution we appealed to France for a Navy as we had no way of combating the English Navy and it's blockades of our ports.

I'm not saying it's right or wrong to get involved. I've no opinion at the moment. I think there are way to many pieces on the board for any one of us to see the big picture. I think that this has to do with our long term strategy towards Iran. I don't know if that is somehow an economic threat, or a military one, again, I don't think we have all the information here, but I do think a government willing to use chemical weapons on it's own civilian populace has crossed the line, and if we can launch a few cruise missiles to take out military targets I can get behind that

i'm wondering if they are cold enough to use chemical weapons on their own people what is to stop them trying to defend military targets with human bodies? if i were captain cunt over there it's what i'd do. checkmate. :(

That's exactly what Iraq did during the last war.

It has to be horribly demoralizing to know that your enemy, who you thought you could defeat, has the backing of the most powerful military on the planet. That alone will do a lot to help those we choose to back.

Gotta say it. Why are we trying to police the world again? Could it be because Obama shot his mouth off and now has to own up to it? What about the 100K people killed in little civil war over there? Oh, wait...no one is calling it a civil war because by international treaty and UN Rules, a outside country can not interfere with in a civil war. I don't like the fact that Asshat used the nerve gas, but in many ways why is that our problem? I am not convinced the Muslim Brotherhood did do it themselves to try and draw in the international community now that they are getting the shit kicked out of them by Assad's army. And why the fuck are we sticking our nose into shit that supports the Muslim Brotherhood anyway? Those guys are directly linked to the Taliban and Al Queda. Aren't they the bad guys we are fighting in a whole bunch of countries? Our foreign policy is schizophrenic as all hell. This shit is giving me a headache.

so then I take it you haven't read the reports about the CIA experimenting the release of various viruses with their secret little suitcases in US rail stations and bus depot's? how does that differ from chemical weapons?

DOD conducted underground nuke tests in Nevada to test the effects of downwind spread of failout, checked for higher mortality rates and disease

US Navy sprayed ships in SF harbor with bacteria in the 50's

US Military released sulfide gas over 5 states in the 50's

US Navy, Army, CIA conducted tests on US citizens in SF with airborn bacteria

Manhattan project personal effected a dozen people with uranium in a Boston hospital

and about a hundred more things. included the current use of depleted uranium arms in the middle east which are nothing more than 3rd generation nuclear arms.

you really should read what's in the national security archives

These countries have no clue how bad ass we could be when the gloves come off. Other countries can engage much sooner, and aren't under the magnified scrutiny we are when it comes to situations. Israel faces the same BS, fear of setting off scrutiny so its always playing the safe route...

I remember in the Navy while pulling into Sydney Green Peace were making a stand and all we could do is announce we are a US Naval Warship in transit on authority of the Australian Gov we intend no harm...blah blah, our Australian escorts were like fuck this and sped up and scared the blockade of yachts, fishing vessels, sail boats and pirate ships out of the way by threatening to ram them, they were also hosing them down with firehoses. Had we tried it the news would have been "US bullies threaten ramming peaceful hippies on joy ride and spray them with chemically laden fluids that cause HerpeSyphillAidsitosis...

Also while in the Persian Gulf we had too many run ins with small vessels rushing up on us trying to either prove they aren't scared or provoke a response, generally the blasts on the horn and announcments US Warship in transit in international waters we intend no harm but we will open fire if you do not stand down was enough to have them veer away or we would call local authorities to intervene if close. Finally one day while walking to lunch I hear a series of blasts on the horn and the muffled sound of our loud speakers, and then plunk, plink, plonk and the reply of our midship .50 Cal opening up followed by General Quarters General Quarters, this is not a drill! This was pre-USS Cole, but I doubt our tactics have changed much just because of the fear of International Incidents...

Speed boats provoking our vessels happen more often than you think, we need to teach those people that we don't play games at some point...

All we gotta do is come in on the heels of Turkish muslims, let them do the first strikes. They want this shit nipped in the bud quickly and are already providing us logistical support and intel...If they get the ball rolling the rest of the muslim world can't claim its an attack due to religion alone...

Before we go bombing more assholes into democracy we really should fix what is fucked up here at home.

LAM, you paranoia is astounding at times.

so reading de-classified CIA documents is paranoia?

sounds like the words of a person that has confused being ignorant with being learned.

I know I don't post much around here anymore, but this caught my attention. To me, America is damned if they do AND damned if they don't. We intervene, we are bullies and tyrants. We sit on the sidelines and watch, we are heartless and uncaring. We can't win. My vote, especially on the heels of Iraq and Afghanistan, come home and defend our soil. We may need it.

there is no clear winner that gets their hand raised in war nowadays, we destroy the countries ability to make commerce. We destroy its infrastructure and make them worse than Mexico. Has nothing to do with freedom, if it was about freedom we would let them handle it on their own the way the chose to, that would be freedom.

Okay, 1st, we decimate a country that gassed its own people. We're so sure they have these weapons cause we gave them to them, so we launch an invasion.....but those weapons weren't there, where'd they go ?

Some say those weapons were hidden in Syria. Well if that's true, those are theirs now.

So now John Kerry is echoing Rumsfeld, saying he knows where they were fired, what time, and the time they landed. But, I bet you a lot of gearz he's not telling us that those weapons have a U.S. mark on them!

This machine just keeps right on rolling along, so what if lots of us have caught on, well, a lot more people have just caught on.

Oh fuck, there you go again. LAM, I am really glad you know how to read. I am glad you sit around all day looking for this stuff. Now how about getting out of the house and doing something that does not pertain to finding shit to have hissy fits about here? Pulling up 50 year old crap has nothing to do with today. You always focus on the US. How about looking at what the Brits, French, Russians, Chinese and other countries have done to themselves and others? In the world of international fuck-fuck, everyone is a player. I will bet what the Chinese have done to their citizens in just the past year would keep you glued to the monitor for weeks.
