Hey everyone, as a new member I just want to say I value the candor of everyone here. That no fake smile bullshit.

There's an intense learning curve with all of this- the treads, the e-books and your own mind.

That said these are my current views on how to cut, and I want to make sure I have this right before I even consider asking for your time on the details of what I actually eat.

1. I'm 6 feet, 181 pounds, roughly 20% body fat.
2. So to loose body fat I should eat around 1,800 calories a day?
3. Roughly an equal dose of complex carbs and healthy proteins?
4. Along with 6 meals a day, I should also drink a gallon of water?
5. I could further along how much fat is used for energy by doing intense daily cardio?
6. By lifting weight I can build some muscle while cutting body fat, and that muscle will aid in loosing body fat?

These are my views and guidelines for action. I'll totally take into consideration any feedback. Happy valentines day and keep doing what you all do-Ty :callme:

just to point out mate no6 you can either do one or the other its soooooo hard to do the both at the same time , pick one and go with it

on a cut maintenance is about 15 x your weight which is about 2700, eat maybe a few under that. you maybe carb sensitive you maybe not so mess around with it to find out what way it works for you

im sure built will be on to offer some top class advice

Cool - so you carry about 145 lbs lean. Use that to set your protein and fat minimums (protein>1g/lb lean mass; fat>0.5g/lb lean mass). There is no set minimum for carbs.
2. So to loose body fat I should eat around 1,800 calories a day?
You should eat less than you require. Most will suggest dropping 20% from whatever your maintenance is, and for most non-obese folks, maintenance is about 15x their bodyweight - for you, this could be in the range of 2700 calories a day - like carli mentioned - so you'd drop that down to say 2100 or so to cut up.
3. Roughly an equal dose of complex carbs and healthy proteins?
Not necessarily. See above.
4. Along with 6 meals a day, I should also drink a gallon of water?
You may prefer to eat three, larger meals a day than six tiny meals a day while cutting. Water is a good thing.
5. I could further along how much fat is used for energy by doing intense daily cardio?
You could, but it may not be advisable.
6. By lifting weight I can build some muscle while cutting body fat, and that muscle will aid in loosing body fat?
You're unlikely to gain muscle while eating at a deficit - but you'll keep the muscle you have, and that's a good thing.
